One if not the main reason Evangelion exists is because SEGA was its first and main sponsor during the original TV series run, including Death and Rebirth and The End of Evangelion (Sega's logo even appears on the opening credits).
Ban Dai and other merch companies jumped bandwagon later.
The first ever Evangelion video game was also made by Sega and released exclusively on Sega Saturn, one of the early Saturn titles from 1995. Not really a good game but it was the first time there was 3D models of the Evas, also features some new animated cutscenes with a new enemy (really crappy b-tier animation, not done by Gainax)

Super Mario Bros 2 isn't *really* Super Mario Bros 2. It was actually a Japanese game called Doki Doki Panic. The real Super Mario Bros 2 is what we call The Lost Levels, but Nintendo thought that it was too difficult for an American audience, so they changed the characters for Doki Doki Panic and released that as Super Mario Bros 2!

Super Mario 2 was actually a game called Donkey Donkey Picnic in Japan, and it was originally about Mario trying to make peace with Donkey Kong and is known as the first example of videogame NTR where Mario is forced to give up on Pauline for the greater good thereby solidfying his relationship with Princess Toadstool.

The original game features an ending cinematic where Donkey Kong brutally beats Pauline and forces her to eat golden bananas until she transforms into an ape. This is the unstated purpose of the banana hoard in the DKC series.

Iron Tank for the NES/Famicom was originally called Final Fantasy because the studio believed that in the game you would finally solve the Jewish question using tanks. Due to the RAM constraints of the NES and ROM constraints of the cartridge system, the game could not render 6 gorillion Jews. Roger Dean was the artist who did the art for many of the Psygnosis games, and a lot of others too. He also did all the album covers for YES and was referred to as "6th member of the band", as he accompanied YES on some of their tours, to maintain the weird fibreglass sculptures and things that they had on stage (which inspired the famous scene in Spinal Tap where the bass player gets trapped inside a crystal pod)

Roger Dean is a legend.
His artwork for psygnosis wasnt just limeted to the games, im pretty sure the famous "owl" logo was of his design too.
He did a lot of fantastic artwork for many other british bands during the 70's and 80's, including Uriah Heap.
