Yeah, Castlevania 3 is tough, and maybe I've beaten it a million times, but I just can't believe how useless everyone was at it on the show. The Japanese version is supposed to be easier, too. I also have a hard time watching the Mega Man episodes.

How'd he die 76 times on it? He doesn't seem _that_ bad based on his performance in other episodes. It seems to me there's pretty much a 50% chance of taking out the Red Arremer in Ghosts 'N Goblins just by spamming projectiles towards it.

It was pretty fast (500kb/s) when I used it, just the set up of the website is retarded. You can only use it with Chrome or a special FF extension. When you click download, it downloads the whole file into your temp directory no matter what and then lets you choose where to put it after it's done.

Solar Jetman would be pretty good for a challenge.

Dying from one bullet if you turn your shields off which is required to tractor beam items back to the ship, the momentum based controls/maneuvering, hidden warps and a final level that becomes a scrolling shooter out of nowhere and gives you one life before game over.

The SA subs often portray Arino talking like a bit of a hick, or casually (I really don't know.) Other times they leave that out. Is that an accurate portrayal, or is it just to add some flavor?

You know, I was thinking that an American adaptation of this show would be pretty good (Acceptable at least) As long as we got a good comedian to play the games. We need someone charming, someone funny, and someone who's career is at a point where they can take a risk.

Who would you like to see in an American version of Game Center CX? I think pic related would work out well. With Ryan Stiles as the cameraman and Colin Mochrie as a helper.

Whoevers running it has a $10 SA account, because it always gets updated same-day whenever a release is posted. Its most useful if you use Steam alot, since 'subscribing' to the locked discussion thread gives you automatic notices when a relase gets posted.

Only other way I know to get automatic release notices is to use Tumblr, and then follow http://gamecentercx.tumblr.com/ (it seems to be the most reliable)

Wipeout US isn't bad. The hosts are kind of annoying, but it's still entertaining to watch. AFV has always been gold; that's the nature of the format. As long as they have content, the show stays good. Plus, Bergeron is a good host. MXC wasn't what it was over in Japan, but it was fairly entertaining. Some of the jokes were actually pretty good. And Sasuke/Ninja Warrior was an AWESOME localization.

That being said, I still don't feel like an American version of GCCX would work. Part of what makes it so good is Arino. His attitude and his minor bouts of plain badass skill are what make the show really entertaining. The arcade trips are awesome too, and I can probably count on one hand how many arcades still exist in the US.

I still don't feel like any of the ones where he does really, REALLY long games. Him playing Earthbound was interesting, but he ends up quitting it right where the game gets going. Either they have to cut it off or they do large swaths of the game for him. OoT was about the max length he can do in 2 episodes I think, and they skipped two (three?) of the temples for him.

You're very close to some great episodes. Konami Wai Wai World is fun, the Prince of Persia two-parter is beautiful and exciting and Super Mario Bros. 3 is essential, especially if you want to see Arino's Mario journey through in order.

I guess part of the charm of the show is to be able to relate to Arino, since many of us have struggled with games like that in the past.

Things tend to get pretty intense when he's about to fail a challenge, since there's that doubt about him succeding at all, and Arino has the time pressure on him, sometimes making him do much better for a moment, and sometimes making him do dumb mistakes. On the other hand, if a challenge is relatively easy for him and he gets the hang of the game, things could get a bit boring.

Phoenix the King's Adventure wasn't that interesting as an episode to me, since he stopped having difficulties with bosses after he discovered he could just spam attacks on them and win.

Do you think it'll be treated like the Toonami Generals? Those could theoretically appear on multiple boards, but good organization and clarification from moot has given them a home on /co/. If it ever becomes a problem, we could plead our case to moot.

More or less. Even /co/mrades who dislike Toonami have learned to ignore the weekly late-night cascade of threads. The threads are very busy, but they're organized well by the OP. By comparison, CX threads are quite chill and inoffensive.
