I sincerely doubt anything can compare to Super SF2, practically. It was a great port of an amazing game, and it's still easy to jump into and get good at it, or play it with someone else. The Gundam game is pretty fucking good, and I like the show as well, but good luck finding any scene for that outside of "obscure japanese games that are worth checking out".

Well, as I see it, you can't exactly play a fighting game in isolation? At least not until really expanded ports started appearing in late fifth and sixth gen, with tons of singleplayer content, challenges, basically anything to keep you engaged beyond the arcade mode. Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution is an example of such a game that you could spend a lot of time with. But with Gundam Endless Duel, do people even play that anymore?

Super sf2 on SNES is a shit port. It's missing way too much data - the animation is missing way too many frames, the audio sounds like crap etc (especially the effects which don't have any weight at all). Turbo is superior on snes.

Even though Endless Duel and MMPR Fighting Edition are probably the best fighting games on SNES (and maybe of 16 bit in general), I still like the Dragon Ball Z fighting games a lot, Butoden 2 and 3 being my favorites, but with Hyper Dimension closely following. Graphically, HD is crazy and might be even more technically impressive than Endless Duel. But I personally came to really like the Butoden system, playing with turbo speed feels great.
TMNT tournament fighters, Sailor Moon S/SuperS, Godzilla fighting game are all fun too.
