It was MJ who composed the tunes, but after the pedo fiasco they couldn't credit him, so they credited his backing band instead.

Seriously, if you have a Michael Jackson disc, go and compare the Sonic 3 music credits the performers list on that CD. You'll find pretty much every name at least on one point.

Seemed way to over the top, but in some cases it was brilliant. It's still one of my favourite pieces of music to this day from vidya.
