How good are these ports?

>> No.4477317

Nights is based on the PS2 port and the controls aren't exactly the same as the original, slightly sluggish.

>> No.4477319

All I know is the Genesis ports are roms and emulators, to the point that hacks are in the workshop and you can remove the roms from the game to use in another emulator.

I've used mobile Crazy Taxi though, it was on point until it suddenly went free.

>> No.4477323

I've finished Nights, didn't have any problems with it.

Crazy Taxi has a few frame drops, no matter how good your rig is. They also removed YA YA YA YA YA.
(I mean the Offspring song, there are others too that they removed).

Sonic Adventure needs something to work correctly, I forgot what it was.

I dare you to play Jet Set Radio with Mouse+KB.

Not that good if you only use a keyboard and mouse. These games are meant to be played on a game console. I own these titles on my Dreamcast & I got digital versions of the same games on my Xbox 360, since the controller is closer to the Dreamcast design.

I don't know why, but in a select few games, the X360 controller goes completely bonkers. I believe it was the original Darksiders 1 that made the camera unusable on the right stick (they even rereleased the game later).

Crazy Taxi's is shit, the mobile version is legitimately better
Jet Set Radio's pretty good if you have a controller
NiGHTS is based off the PS2 version and is a bit sluggish but it works well enough
No idea on Sega Bass Fishing
SADX is a port of a port of a port
Space Channel is fine but no Part 1 sucks

Actually scratch that, Crazy Taxi's apparently a new port and not the one from the early 2000s so I have no idea how that one is.

Sonic Adventure DX is lit af if you get the BetterSADX mod. Lets you replace the textures with the og dreamcast textures and the og dreamcast lighting. Also it gives it native widescreen suppott and looks fucking great. You can even activate the original Dreamcast DLC events.

It's adequate, so long as you install the mod to restore the original sounds and the analog controller fix. Not as good as the Dreamcast version, though.

Hell no it isn't. I've had 3 of them and every single one stopped working and actually deleted the drivers off the controller itself (my PC refused to recognize it on any level even when I installed new drivers) thanks to the wire not being built into the controller like the 360 pad is. Unreliable as fuck meanwhile the 360 just works and keeps working with absolutely zero issues.

>These games are meant to be played on a game console.

Crazy Taxi controls fine on keyboard. I finished both that and CT3 back when they were first ported to PC in the early 00s.
CT3 was odd in that it required a card with pixel and vertex shaders, but ran without them... you'd get all sorts of glitches, like broken alpha transparency, and the character select screen was missing half the animation resulting in broken ankles and such. It was funny and not exactly unplayable.

yes, they changed the songs, but the new ones aren't that bad. Especially the rockabilly score for CT3 by Kings of Nuthin and 13 Cats. They also used a bunch of obscure songs that never got a cd release, like Dunamus (the menu theme) or Pity by SX-10 (cypress hill side project, the song was never on CD).

They used music from the bands Pivit, Total Chaos, Psychotic Youth, The Briggs, The Kings of Nuthin, SX-10, Dunamus. Some of those are actually pretty damn good bands.

>> No.4482129

I have played Jet Set Radio and Sonic Adventure DX and both worked pretty well, though it's pretty obvious that a controller will give you a much easier time than m+kb. I've heard good things about BetterSADX so look into that as well.
