From the vertex lighting for the game's sky boxes, to Copeland's soundtrack, to slowly gliding through huge levels and seeing comfy, well-textured and colored models take shape as the world unfolds in front of you... Love this game.

This little gem.
Nice cartoony graphics, great orchestrated OST, crash bandicoot 2-like levels, and a fair difficulty that makes it better (at least the psx version).

The developers intended mostly for the player to fucking hate life itself though.

It could have been such a great game if they had narrowed down the gameplay smorgasbord to just a handful of concepts; too many of the levels are simply boring and unrewarding to play. Take out Volkmire's (it's just a worse designed Turbo Tunnel) and probably Clinger Winger, tweak a little a couple other levels and Battletoads could have been a true classic. The Hole, Arctic Caverns, Surf City, Includer Excluder and Revolution levels are extremely fun to play even after a hundred times

Context matters for some of these...although it's probably just wishful thinking on my end. There have certainly been a ton of RPG's I'll play for awhile and then get bored and quit before finishing. I didn't finish Mario Sunshine either out of boredom but eventually did when I had nothing else to play on my Wii years later.

Mario World really isn't that hard though. I beat it when I was in 2nd grade. It seems like getting 100% was a little tough though mainly because of a few cryptic areas. I don't recall struggling with the bonus levels too much.
