Will you be getting any games from Wii's virtual console before it closes? Do you have any recommendations?

Buy a crt and some games.

>> No.4467049

At least all the N64 games at some point. They're the only games to my knowledge Nintendo optimized and once they're gone, you can bet you'll never see these exact iterations again. Even though the Wii version of OoT is the buggiest version.

The entire NA VC library has been dumped, and maybe most of the JP library. Clean rips too not some modified BS. You can install these rips (WADs) straight into the Wii's internal memory so they are exactly the same as the Wii Shop Channel games. I know this because i have several Wii's, some with VC games bought from the Shop Channel and some with WADs and its a 1:1 copy. As an added bonus for WADs, you can play stuff like Star Parodier and other games that were delisted on Shop Channel

>> No.4468095

No-one would dispute WADs aren't the same as bought copies. But if everyone thought like you did, then we wouldn't have these games on Wii to begin with. See the moral conundrum now?

You're an idiot. People are advocating making back ups since you're fucked once the store is shut down and the wii's internal memory eats it. The benefit of these rips is you can play then on your pc via dolphin or a replacement wii if it comes to it. To add on a bit more. There are also some games you can't purchase due to them being pulled off or region locks. More still is that the shop being closed down means that people who missed out on certain games in the future are fucked unless they download the rips

Nintendo hasn't exactly been the best for support, and I dunno about you, but for games I already own or owned, I'm not paying for them again. And not to mention, I'm not a retard who buys every iteration of the exact same game every time nintendo releases it. Their re-release fever is fucking annoying and is one of the top ways they get people's cash because "Don't you remember how fun this game was anon?"
Ninty can suck a dick, until they're mass producing good games again, I don't care. They did good with Mario Odyssey, but I'm not sure they'll be releasing anything else that's majorly worth playing. The game before that, they gave Mario a gun. It's official Nintendo is out of ideas.

I don't see why what I do with my money or what Nintendo does with it are your problems. I fully condone pirating delisted games. But you have a moral obligation to abide by copyright for everything else, not just when someone is enforcing the law. Someone owns the right to the licenses, that wasn't you. It's not up to you to interpret how or if your hard-earned money adds up to support your ends. That's your entitlement speaking and is why our country is in a shithole right now.

What's funny about this is the majority of the roms inside of the .wads on the Wii virtual console are scene dumps. Nintendo let a 'thief' do all the work and you're happily paying for shit some intern downloaded from emuparadise in 2006. That isn't even getting into how inaccurate the VC emulator is for anything other than N64, homebrew emulators mop the floor in every other case.

No, N64 is the one that's not accurate. It just is compared to PC. Whereas other VC's are the closest thing to playing on native hardware. And they probably are as good as the hardware if not using a wireless controller.

Ever used Wii64? That's the point I was trying to make. It's the one case where homebrew emulators bring nothing to the table and VC is still useful, aside from a few of the arcade games maybe.

>Whereas other VC's are the closest thing to playing on native hardware.

Hardly, it's emulator code from 2006. There's Youtube videos dating back years detailing their glitches, SNES and Genesis were affected the worst as I recall. For close to native you're better off using recent-ish retroarch cores running at 240p.
