I will admit I have a very different sense of humour to the rest of the Doom community. While they laugh at stuff like CIF, dwforums, and other jokewads, I personally find my sense of humour lies in WADs like B4NM, and other terrywads, including one that's in progress by one of my friends, which is looking really fucking impressive and hilarious. But you don't have to find it funny, and I'm not forcing you to. Don't try to force me to not find it funny, and getting pissed at me for finding it funny is similar to what >>4452016 said.

Real question here: when I play Sunlust Map31 I get the wrong sky in GZDoom.

The Loot Box mod kind of missed the underlying point of Loot Boxes; they're the end-result of modern games moving entirely to an XP-driven progression format.

A DOOM mod that replaced health with experience points and required you to grind enough experience from pickups / kills to unlock the next level might actually be somewhat interesting. Anyone here at all familiar with the Quake 1 engine? Like, familiar enough that they know what needs to be done to get the vanilla engine to compile, and run properly, on 64bit architectures (or can point me at some documentation or something that will point me in the right direction). Compiling is actually surprisingly straightforward, but there's definitely something, seemingly in the virtual machine for QuakeC that breaks on x64. Most of the big source ports have fixed this, but from browsing through their revision control the fixes have either just happened incidentally over time (or just weren't mentioned in the commit logs), or happened after much of the code was already restructured to the point where what they're doing to make it 64bit clean is completely different from what you'd be doing to the vanilla sources because the changes are happening to completely different code.

man, right off the bat, this mod can pull off some pretty convincing 3D models. imagine the thrill of it at the time of its release. everyone must've gone insane. one would think that with the poor resource management of voxels in gzdoom 3D models would be a pain to render adequately, but in here they're pretty good looking even a good 10 years after its release.

in lieu of knowledge of people disliking the usage the word for pretty much everything... this was, strangely enough, pretty damn comfy. the setting is nice, weirdly charming aesthetic and good sound design. too bad the gameplay itself was pretty bad. I'll cut it some slack given how story-centered the mod is but goddamn, not a single enemy here was interesting to fight, and I found none of the weapons save for the hammer were worth my time.

I will say its only real downside was how damn short it was. only 3 maps long or so. would've definitely benefited from just a couple more, maybe 5 or 7 would have been a fair share. again, really dug the setting and the characters a lot. gameplay left a lot to be desired.
the little guys giving you gameplay tips completely stole the show just because of how adorable they were.

Its very bad. First of all the first 2 levels are red light district and Hollywood Holocaust backwards. The actual levels have really crappy designs, very amateur. The enimies are edited to be more christmasey but they look tacky, take the pig cop for instance. some of the new enimies look like shit as well. There are no new weapons. There are no new duke talk. The music is just generic christmas music which is really annoying. The final boss is a repainted duke that looks like santa and has like 3 or 4 voice clips clearly done in one take. I remembered one of the lines it sounded like the actor was gonna burst out laughing. so overall, it was a huge letdown because it had some potential but really the idea of it and the cover are the best things about it.
