Anyone here own a PSX?

What's a good price for one that works completely fine. No read issues at all.

Do I have any chance of getting that dream?

How much of a nightmare are they? Do you trust yours to work/ use it as your goto system for related games?

Thanks!

I own about 15 consoles and the PSX is the only thing that's ever failed on me.

what are the main issues this thing has? how can you improve its longevity?

it has problems with overheating so could you just take off its covering if its in use?

What's wrong with either of those skills? Not entirely sure where you were attempting to go there

I'd really love to be pointed in any place where I could discuss this thing. It's in the weird cusp where nobody talks about it but /vr/ goes rules crazy on you.

I pick up PS systems from flea markets all the time and they are dirt cheap usually, though I am not from USA so I don't know how is the situation over there.

The sellers usually don't know if it works or not since the cables are usually missing, so I haggle over it pointing out that it might not work at all to get it cheaper. This usually pays off, all six PS1 consoles I've found on flea markets power on, 3 of them play the games, one needs a new lens and I think the other two needs a new disc spining drive. The total I've spent for 6 consoles, half a dozen controllers, the cables and a complete box was around $18 when converted. If you have thrift stores near where you live or have garage sales, be on the look out for them. You may never know what you can find.

You buy a ps2 slim. Don't know why anyone still buys ps1s. You can get a slim for $30 with cables and controller. Lotta NEET bucks, I know, but worth it.

The first models of PSX were known to be unreliable, even back then in the 90s. Those made in the late 90s are more solid.

Or you could buy a PS2 as suggested above.

Nope.
>price
I'd say 20 to 30 bucks. I got mine from a game store 2 or 3 years ago from a game store and it works great.
>nightmare
I use mine all the time. The only downside is unofficial memory cards can wipe your data without explanation.
>Goto system
I'm starting to use my PS2 more for PSX games due to the PS2 having component out, giving games a better video signal.

$20 if it has all the hookups. Honestly with them being emulated on psp, ps2 and fat ps3, there's not much desire for them.

Get a "slim" model as they have less laser issues overall.

Be sure to test before you buy if you can.

An entire thread of hipsters, having spent years using "PSX" to refer to the original Playstation in order to seem cool to other hipsters, are now confused by the fact that the OP is referring to the actual PSX and not the PS1's development name.

>> No.4454810

You have it the wrong way around idiot, it's the hipsters that autistically defend that the only 'true' use of the term PSX is referring to the PS2/PVR device.

I dont own one but I have read they are prone to overheating issues similar to fatty PS3 where the heat melts the solder on the board and cause various failures and hardware recognition errors.

That is true. Despite the rules /vr/ is kinda a haven for obscure shit. I wish i could talk about the ngage here, that had some great games. Not many games released for it, but most were great and remakes. Best thps and tomb raider remakes ever.
