COTA shits the bed by not having proper use of the Magic series thats actually functional in seuqels. Have fun trying to use a launcher and being very confused why combos dont make a lick of sense.

The only thing good about cota is it started the series and its cast. Without cota we wouldnt have had msh and so on and so forth. Play literally any sequel. Play xsf if you wanna use xmen.

Probably one of the most fun Capcom fighting games to play with friends. I always liked it better than the MvC games.

It's awesome once you learn how to play. Completely different compared to the games that followed. The combo system is unique and works differently than the sequels but nonetheless, a handful of fighters have infinites(Cyclops and storm are the first that come to mind).

Tech throws are very important, as throws in the game cause massive damage and softening a throw requires some X meter.

Visually, it is the 3rd best looking game in the series with MSH being first and XvSF being second.

Don't ever bother with any of the ports as they are all very terrible. Load times, missing animations and slow frame rates kill the whole experience. Emulation on final burn alpha/fightcade is the only way to go since finding an actual cabinet to play on seems next to impossible. I don't know of any locations that have the game.

It's very different from its sequels, in fact, I would argue that marvel super heroes was the first game in the mvc series to establish the conventional mechanics (air combos, for example). Cota has a weird combo/juggling mechanics you have to get used to, characters have less health/deal more damage (consequently the rounds last shorter), and AI is very cheap. They like to turtle like crazy, and only attack when you're recovering. Also, last fight is total bs.

Anyway, character sprites are good, music is good, gameplay is overall decent, I'd recommend playing it with a friend/online, rather than AI.

It started it all

And it was BROKEN AND EASY AS FUCK.

I remember my KID SISTER beat the game in arcades on HARD with Wolverine.

Hit that Fierce Punch and Kick over and over while holding forward.

Over and over

Same can be done with Ice Man with his ICE BALL!

or Psylocke jumping up and spaming Psy-Beam.

They fixed both Wolverine and Psylocke for Marvel Super Heroes so you could not repeat the cheapness.

Plays similarly to original Darkstalker and/or SSF2T and the 1st MAHVEL Game but seriously the stages and the music are absolutely amazing. AI is cheap at times and Magneto and Juggernaut are the worst cases but i love this game. I also really love how well they translated the art from the comics (mostly Jim Lee) into the game. Also Wolverine, Colossus and Sentienel are broken

That's a tuff one. I reallly like MSH soundtrack more. It totally captures that superhero feel for every stage and overall game.

Capcom really went all out on the visuals and music for the first two games. It all went to shit though with MSHvSF and MvC1.

I never would of thought megaman (not in a bad way) but i can see your point but idk that end staff roll has catchy and had me reminding a bit of the Konami game a bit with the X-MEN voice sample with that CPS2 soundchip.
