Has anyone played homebrew retro games in person? I remember hacking my Wii back in the day and playing a handful of games like this, and of course playing a ton of romhacks back in the day as well, but I've never played homebrew games on actual carts. I'm kind of interested in getting started.

I know there's a really well-known one for SNES starring a leprechaun that's becoming rare? Curious what other good ones are out there.

Pic related came from a Mike and Ryan Let's Play, and basically looks like a Kickle Cubicle clone. Sort of interested, but not enough to buy it.

That's Nightmare Busters, it's a professionally made game in 1994 that went unreleased because couldn't find a publisher. Not a homebrew.

I looked at that devs Genny bmup " Coffee Crisis". The very best thing I can say about it is at least it cites any game besides SoR2 as an inspiration... in addition to SoR2. Which it looks and plays nothing like. The medusa puzzle game looks cute and good though.

I've never actually played a homebrew on proper hardware before, but I'm still clinging on to impossible hope that Paprium will ship next year. I'll admit it: I was taken in by the siren song and the sweet promises they hissed into my ear. I put money down for a copy.

I don't even know why they would go through the trouble of putting it on physical repro carts. They would sell 10x as many if it just went on Steam.

You can easily put any homebrew game on a flash cart of course. There's a great homebrew qbert for Genesis. I've played some homebrew Atari 2600 games at a convention.

anyone know where to find the roms for these guys' games? I really like these kinds of projects and want to support them, but I also like to try before I buy

Battle Kid 1 & 2 on NES are awesome. Incredible that they were done by one person. Highly recommended Streemerz is really fun too. .

You're supposed to get mad at him for asking to be spoonfed.

Everyone knows that homebrew releases that are paid are dumped as soon as possible, and fixing the emulation holes is usually top priority (after a given time at least).

As opposed to what? Playing them online where they pretend to be a girl and send you fake pictures?
>actual carts
Many people play them on flash carts which are actual carts.

>>4438002
Most homebrew/indie carts are actually flash carts. They're just simple versions with no SD slot, menu, etc.
