I adore my Saturn. One of my top 5 favorite game consoles, second only to the Dreamcast. And before everyone shouts "SEGAfag!" Yes, I am a bit of a SEGA fanboy. Every system I had when I was younger was SEGA besides my N64.

Regardless of all that, the Saturn truly had some of the best games I've ever played, it had awesome hardware and accessories, and it delivered an awesome overall gaming experience.

Saturn deserves a lot of respect.

If I can beat the game without a guide, it will prove Konami really screwed the pooch with their translation.

Of course, that's not to say that it will make CV2 flawless. That game has some issue with castle design, too. Who the fuck thought it would be a good idea to have floors with invisible pits every 2 steps? Taking two steps and throwing holy water just to see where to walk is some bullshit.

I agree with ET, mainly because, while it was a bad game, it was not single-handedly responsible for the video game crash like it's hyped up to be. It is a codifier of what was wrong with video games at the time, i.e. too many shitty badly made games to try and make a quick buck, but the market as a whole would have crashed just as much had it not been released, and was already in the process of crashing before it was.

The market is too big for an overall crash of "video games" to occur, in my opinion. Even if every major publisher went bankrupt overnight, you'd be left with a huge glut of professional designers who would more likely than not want to fill the vacuum, and a huge consumer base eager to buy their products. What would be more likely to happen would be the failure of the large publishers like EA and Activision, and even that would be hard to determine to be the cause of market failure rather than the individual failings of the organization.

Not saying it was a brilliant game, but I thought it was a very good game. Unfortunately, it got a LOT of flak for being called a 4X game but not being a Master of Orion clone, which I think is quite unfair.

Ahahaha, no. Are you 10? Did you never play Castlevania 2 when it was current? That thing was a crushing insult right out of the box.

Nah, it and Bart vs. The Space Mutants were pretty horrible, kid unfriendly games.
I just played both extensively back then because I was a Simpson fan and an allowance for new, better games didn't come quick or easily in those days.

You must not lurk /vr/, that game seems to be universally loved here.

Daikatana suffered the same fate as DNF. Tons of hype during a long troubled development producing an ok game that gets shit on all the time for being a massive disappointment.

Do people actually have a legitimate reason for hating on that game? The only complaint I ever see when they do is that it plays different from the other games.

I think a month was typical in those days. How long can it take to write 4k of code?

No, that's pretty much it.
It also seems pretty grindy at first, but in reality isn't since you get a full level off every boss.
It's somewhat vague in where to go and what to do, though; but that's part of the exploration that was present in the first one as well, so I don't know what the issue is other than 'it's cool to hate it'.

Something I noticed was that the people nowadays that praise classic titles like Zelda or Mario are maximum casuals. That might be the reason.

Nintendo would probably have nixed that in a licensed game because of potential BDSM implications

I am currently replaying this game
Its still really fun, the puzzles are complex and the world is funny, only downside is the grind in the minigames, like gamar isle

I fucking loved that game, honestly it was probably my most played game during the early years. But it's complete shit.

I've got such mixed feelings for this game. I played it a LOT when it came out. Mind, I was too young to really get anything done, but I still put in tons of hours and had fun.

Honestly though, looking back Kojimas complaints are very valid. WTF was Ultra thinking? Was there any sort of excuse or explanation given for why this port turned out so fucked up? I don't know shit when it comes to console tech limitations, but nothing in the MSX MG seemed unreasonable for the NES.

I guess when I think about it, it was a very fun game, but the design flaws just fucking kill it for me.

What's everyone's opinion on pic related?
