not that anon but I think Super Mario World does fast platformin better than Sonic.

Knuckles does fix a lot of Sonic's issues though. I agree that S&K is the best sonic

It's a largely academic and meaningless distinction, Anon. Especially since Sonic 3 was just as good as Sonic and Knuckles.

Nah. Mania is merely a good first attempt. Only time will tell if a proper fully-fledged sequel emerges.

I'm assuming OP thinks everyone is his age (20 or thereabouts), so he thinks people only have nostalgia for the Adventure games and the like.
He doesn't think there's people old enough that are still alive that maybe could have played S&K at release date.

For 2 years that was my "sonic 3" since Sonic 3 was very expensive and you had to order through magazines. Only with Sonic Jam I played Sonic 3 and with & Knuckles that was the best experience. But S&K is pretty good alone, but through the years i started to enjoy S3 zones more

Mania tried too much to please every classic fan. They mixed Sonic 1 platforming+CD vertical design+ speed sections of 3 + slopes from 2 and even gimmicks like the bubbles from Sonic 2 GG/MS, so some zones seem like a long clusterfuck. In fact the game would have been better by dividing through 3 acts each zone

But i do hope, if there is a next one, that they choose more carefuly the path they want, not just "throw everything"

But Sonic does both those things better than mario. Sonic has a vastly superior physics engine. Just because your brain is too slow to keep up has nothing to do with the game.

Try again.

>But Sonic does both those things better than mario.
Surely you have an argument to back that up.
>Sonic has a vastly superior physics engine.
That’s not an argument, it’s just a baseless subjective statement. At least provide reasons for your position.

Anyways the physics in Sonic games are just more pronounced but in no way “better”. If anything the physics engine is used by the developers to take away a fair bit of your control when you go through Sonic’s “fast” segments i.e. on-rails boosted portions where you either have to not interfere with the ride or know when to jump or hold left/right at the correct times (the latter in particular often requires memorization since you’re frequently just flying through empty space with no hint of what’s off screen), and the excessive momentum based physics brings slower platforming to a janky crawl where it feels like you’re struggling against the game for control of Sonic.

Mario never has this issue at slower speeds and the only time you’re asked to make a leap (or rather plummet) of faith is when you’re flying well above the normal stage, and you’re usually doing that just to find secrets instead of being a normal part of completing a course.
>Just because your brain is too slow to keep up has nothing to do with the game.
Ha, can’t even hold a civil conversation with someone else eh? I guess that’s to be expected.

You know, sometimes I looked at skilled players for my favorite games and feel like I'll never be able to get to that level. In times like that, it's nice to know that at least I'm not part of this recent crowd that struggles with Sonic the fucking Hedgehog. I assume it will only be a few more years before Kirby is deemed to be trial-and-error artificially difficult fundamentally flawed game design as well.
