I bought a copy of Sylviana for FDS off Yahoo auctions, and the photo and description made it look like it didn't come with the outer case, only the disk case and instruction manual. So I was thinking I'd need something to hold it together and picked up a handful of these Famicom disk travel cases separately.
But then it turned out Sylviana came with the outer case after all.

That reminds me, Rebels semi-canonized World Devastators recently. Same general form and function but they’re called Ore Crawlers now. It’s fun watching the show just to see echoes of the old EU pop-up from time to time.

Is grabbing a Saturn worth it? I don't really know what are its best titles, but that Deep Fear game looks pretty cool.

>> No.4429661

>>4429595
very worth it! it typically has the best arcade ports and is just a very interesting console in general, for the cheapest and most straightforward way to get into saturn is to buy a japanese model, you dont have to buy japanese games if you cant read/understand japanese, but they are the cheapest models to buy, and it is crucial to get the action replay 4m plus, because that lets you bypass region coding, so with your very cheap jap saturn you can play american versions!!

if you are a fan of resident evil, know that the saturn version is the definitive version with the most content, and so much addition stuff not included in any other version.

the saturn has some of the best shmups on any console.

i recommend these titles for you to check out:

quake, resident evil, deep fear, myst, solar eclipse, UKM3, area 51, strikers 1945, iron storm, gungriffon, deadalus, AMOK, Dragon force, Shining the holy ark, Command and conquer, Alien trilogy, Crusader: no remorse, Ghen wars, Black dawn, Wing arms Thunderstrike 2, mobile suit gundam trilogy, battle garegga

oops, a few spelling errors, anyways, cant belive i left out baroque!! im not even a fan of jrpgs or rogue games but baroque caught my eye, being very cheap (< $20USD) and its atmosphere, the game is very addicting to play. i cant understand the story, but man, just watch a walkthrough of the saturn version online...very cool game. reminds me of a post-apocalyptic DUNE world.

>it is crutial to get the action replay 4m plus
About how much does that run? I almost wonder if it would just be cheaper (and more fun)to solder on a mod chip for it.

>> No.4429747

30 dollars

you can get a jap sat for that much, so both the jap sat and the action replay 4m plus you get the whole package for the amount a US sat costs.

i wish i had known this before i dropped 80 dollars on a US sat, at the time i didnt find out about those 3 games you see in my pic, so i didnt think i'd be using the 4m plus. literally a week later i saw baroque and jap tittie simulator 1996 edition. man did i facepalm hard...then something else got hard...

i have no idea since i never played kings field. its a good game, i can tell you that, its first person dark souls in a post-nuclear-fucked up mutated DUNE. you fight floating fish monsters for the first 20 minutes. you must die to progress the story in some parts. its a giant tower you must descend and you have limited health thats always very slowly draining, and you get a gun with 5 shots that one hit kill enemies, you are supposed to save it for tough areas/last parts of the game. you lose all items upon death but you have the option to leave behind some items for a next playthrough. its atmosphere is enough to buy the game. the opening area is large and fun to explore, i sunk an hour into it when i just wanted to test it out and see if it works. really fun game. very cheap. i cant understand the story but i dont care much for it as the gameplay is great on its own, and i got to level 4 pretty easily. (there are 13 levels of the big tower you must go down for some reason, and thats how you beat the game, getting to level 13.) dying at certain parts of the game apparently let you unlock certain doors or unlock dialogue options for all the characters at the beginning area

I passed on Doukyuusei Mahjong back when it came out despite being a huge Doukyuusei fan, partly because I wasn't sold on the new character design, and partly because it's fucking mahjong. But now 20 years later I've decided to learn mahjong so here we are.
