Revisiting this game after a long break. I'm up to Joan of Arc level 3, where I'm supposed to scare away the British by destroying one of their castles. I apparently need to build my own castle and create some siege rams, but I can't remember how to do either. Are villagers supposed to be able to build castles?

>> No.4407324

Siege rams are built from the Siege workshop in the castle age. Before you build a Siege workshop, you must build a blacksmith. Hope that helps.

Thanks, my city has a blacksmith, but everything was pre-built. How would I begin to build my own town from scratch?

The campaigns are all pre-made and will start you with varied levels of resources, buildings and units depending on the historical event. If you want a regular match where you start a new town from scratch then play a normal match, try a 1v1 first.
You will be wrecked online if you have no idea how things work, given that this game has been around for so long that the rest of the people playing it online are really fucking good at it.

no you're not, you never played this game anon, you just found out about it and started a random single player campaign just to have a a conversation topic.

this game is quite simple, you just gotta click "learn to play" in the main screen to start the william wallace campaign, and during a match you read the description for each interface button that appears as you select different units, as you hover the mouse cursor over each button, if there is no description, just find the button next to the minimap that enables help text...
are you using translation software to use 4chan and can't read a single word in english? in which case i recommend you get a translation patch for AOE2 in-game texts to your language, there are several beyond the standard ones offered my microsoft;;;
check aok.heavengames.com

or are you just so lonely that you must make up random shit or an anonymous forum, in which case i recommend you join a chat room with nicknames and such.

Stop being spastic and learn to type.

You don't, just be in the Castle Age and build a damn Castle. After that you get the option for a Siege Workshop. You'll need a small army of rams, not just a few. Stuff men inside if you're playing the Expansion- the original campaigns were never re-balanced for Expansion-only features like ram garrisoning; could give you a leg up, depending.

help me improve, which part is hard to understand?

>> No.4408058

The part where you went off on this long tangent based on an assumption that you had no evidence of. So, basically the entire post. Also, the beginning of every sentence you type is supposed to be capitalized, please start doing so. And shit like ";;;;;"? Knock that right the fuck off, it doesn't even make sense as a colloquialism.

Try playing the William Wallace tutorial. It will bring you up to speed on a lot of these things.

villagers build everything as long as you complete the pre-requisites
