I'm worried about buying a used N64 Controller because they all say "Tight Stick" and the last time I ordered a "tight stick" it flopped around and wasn't even close to useable.

How do you buy yours?

find a place with a return policy. i got a "refurbished" stick on ebay that still used optical sensors but was pretty tight. yes the sensitivity is higher but it wasnt too bad to cope with. i put some grease in the stick in hopes it will last a while

I just emulate mario 64 and play zelda collectors edition and call it a day

I can't handle sensitivity issues on the controller. It'll drive me nuts.

I am trying to avoid having to do returns, because it takes time and is annoying. I just want to order a good controller and the kickstarter for the new N64 controller doesn't look very promising anymore.

>sensitivity
i can understand, for me playing games like goldeneye took some getting used to, but i still have 3 other controllers with oem sticks, although worn, are still pretty decent.

i completely agree, but in that case your only options are old games stores or craigslist ads where you can go and feel for yourself.

Every N64 I got was broken.

god those controllers were trash. Id recommend getting a 3rd party one. I know it wont have that exact same feel, but youll probably have less frustration. I can still remember using a controller in 98, so it couldnt have been more than a year old or so and the joystick already squeaked and stuck from casual use. Id vote the 64 controller to be the worst one ive ever used. worse than dreamcast.

Are there any engineered identically to the regular N64 one, with the same light ball thing?

a guy is making them out of steel, but the ETA on orders is like 2024 at this point. steelsticks

How's the sensitivity and how is it compared to an original?

>> No.4406161

>>4406149
It's only slightly more sensitive. Totally worth it since the joystick lasts for more than an hour of gameplay unlike the original. The d-pad on it sucks for the games which use it instead of the joystick (like Kirby) but the original controller's d-pad works fine for those games.

For shooters, I recommend getting used to strafing.

Well I may invest in it then

anyone trust the retrofighter kickstarter?
