I feel I'm kind of being pointlessly antagonistic here for no reason, but well, this is /vr/.

Zooming out from the subject -like in Power Stone- makes any 3D view get increasingly "flattened" and lose most of the dramatic relative size distortion that makes perspective obvious in close quarters. It's just how camera lenses (and reality) work. That image is actually a pretty good illustration of the point: just compare the Thwomps: in an truly isometric view you could measure them with a ruler on the picture and they would be the exact same size; but you can see the one of the left (the one "closer") appears visually larger.

There are not that many classic games that use a 3D engine for actually isometric rendering. Final Fantasy Tactics does iirc, pic related

Sure, but those two gems could spawn near you at the same match. It really depends on whether you like a light element of luck or not. Fighting a CPU that has an instantaneous reaction to Power Stone spawns is bullshit, but in a fight between 2-4 human beings, that luck factor has a lot less bias, and the stones are potentially not even effective depending on the individual player.

Power Stone is a great concept, but they really shot themselves in the foot. Between luck factor (great in party matches, not so great when there's supposed to be skill involved), hilarious efficiency of one single attack (okay, jump kick was slightly nerfed in PS2 but it still remained a single best tactic in the game) and matches devolving into spamming your powerstone attack it killed any chance of serious competitive scene staying a fun party game, but nothing more. Holy crap, look at all this overlap. It's almost like tourneyfags cling to good games, which, in turn, gives those games a further boost in popularity. I'm not saying Power Stone is bad, it's just the game you play occasionally with friends. It won't get a sequel, it won't get more content (which it desperately needs, i love Power Stone arenas but there's less than ten, goddamnit, and that's if we count Pharaohbot fight), it will be a fun but ultimately forgettable oddity.

is there aby drawbacks to pirated versions of the dc games?

>> No.4388228

Power Stone 1 was more a fighting game with more depth and a better combo system and grapples. The areas and the soundtrack were more charismatic than in 2 imo. Also, there was a first person view mode which was an unlockable mode
2 was a party game but they took out some of the combos 1 had and made it simpler. But that shit had so many weapons to built that made the game fun as hell.

Overall both are different experiences. PW1 a much better singleplayer experience and 2 a party game.

PW2 can be fun alone if you play it once in a while like you vs 3 cpu with hardest setting.

About the extra, the extra characters in both games in the psp versions are neat but since PW1 system is different the PW2 characters don't fit well in there. They are missing some vital combos and specials like characters in 1 had, Wang Tang and Garuda for example were different in both games which in 1 both were top tier characters for me in closed areas as Gunrock(because fuck you! earthquake!).

Unless you change the settings in the options and have the transformed characters less overpowered.

PSP version is a good portable version. The screensize can be fixed by changing into 4:3 or zoomed

This. It's why that garbage Marvel VS Capcom series is still getting made.

Question, has anybody here unlocked the Scrapbooks in both games?

What does it have?

I don't think that's what they mean, John. The PSP is so small you can barely see your character and the emulator doesn't support multiplayer without doing extremely convoluted lan setups.

I couldn't find that option. Is it unlockable?
Thing about tourneys is that they always use default settings.

Lol no, even Q3 and HoMM 3 are more autistic.

Woman, the psp screensize for a portable is good enough. If you change it to 4:3 or Zoomed the characters will become bigger and you can se much much better and closer instead of the silly 16:9 or widescreen where characters seem like ants.

>>4388596
Pause the game and there is an option for screensize or camera, whatever the name is.

Fuck, i misread. In the options there is an option for %s of damage while transformed and number of stones. I don't remember if you need to press a specific button to change to another menu(like a 2ndpage) or press either left or right.

Aw, how come? I was disappointed there were no individual endings, and I wish they'd done more with 'castle in the sky' setting, but it's an amazing party game, especially because of it being a relatively overlooked franchise...

Capcom really dropped the ball on this, MVC2 at least had an excuse, it had 56 characters, almost all of em re-used, but here, why not gave us Individual endings?
