Is it true when you buy retro games from Japan on eBay they also include FREE CANDY and other souvenirs in your package? Is that better than buying from Amazon?

I remember buying something from a Jap and they included a miniature kit-kat and a handwritten note
They are too pure for this world, god bless the Japs.

I order a lot of imports. I've never received candy, but I have gotten plenty of hand-written thank yous, origami, and one time I got a tea packet.

Mostly I get origami, which I still appreciate.

I got a handwritten note ordering stuff from some cheapo chink store. Ink stink and pen depressions and everything. The nice card was probably more expensive than the doohickey I bought.

>>4385245
Have you opened that sucker up and taken a look inside? could be a tasty squid ink mini-kitkat hidden in there right now

>> No.4385346

YES.
But not when you buy from stores. It's when you buy from a real person, not a company. Although maybe some companies might do it too, it never happened to me.
When you want to buy in Japan, many times you'll need a proxy, someone who has a japanese bank account, can pay for and receive the package and ship it to you. They'll add an additional fee (20% or more) for the service.
I used to get packages from a japanese girl that mostly sold clothes (to /cgl/ girls, for example), I contacted her because all the other pages with shop service I found were rather expensive (I think sometimes it went to like 40%). This girl's fee was much cheaper and she was very nice. Always would reply dilligently and never missed an auction. She'd send all sort of candy and even stuff like coffee or tea, and cute postcards and stuff. I figure she did that to her lolita clients, while she was shipping stuff like Bare Knuckle games or Sin and Punishment to me.
She was the best, a shame I lost the contact, and anyway it's been a while since I cared about buying stuff.

Depends what you call cheap, remember you have to pay the postage from the seller to the proxy service warehouse + international postage + fees. 90% of the time it's not worth for a single game.

I agree but for instance, some time ago I bought a PC-98 for like 50$ and 100$ shipping and it was still WAY cheaper than on ebay where these are sold for 800-2000$ even though yahoo auctions is literally flooded by these

Whenever I've ordered stuff from japan i get little handwritten notes that say stuff like "thank you, enjoy the game!" in both kanji and english. A couple times they threw these random cards in that i assume are part of some tcg, I have absolutely no idea where they are from but it is pretty cool that they do that.
