I love having a projector but I definitely don't use it for games, so it's not in my basement. But people who think this looks like a dark, depressing mess have no idea about the pleasures of being cocooned deep underground surrounded by coils of cables and the whir of machines.

One of my roommates in college had the same chair with the same stupid pleather coating that cracks like that. It shed stupid little bits of black pleather all over the carpet and he never cleaned them up. Actually your mix of ikea furniture and some old dresser that probably belongs to your parents really brings me back. I like your mouse I guess, not a fan of the huge sound bar right on your desk though (assuming that's what that is), or your PVM being about 6 ft in the air. What, do you stand up to play games or something? More likely you just don't use it much. I hope the firearm makes you feel in control, at least.

I noticed your record player in the other pic, so you should just try to get an old style hi-fi cabinet like pic related with shelves and a top surface for a turntable. Thirty, 40 years ago everyone had something like this in their house.
Then you could put those stereo components in the cabinet and put your consoles under the TV.

Thanks guys, appreciate the love.

I actually do have original consoles and 40+ NES games, but it's all PAL-shit, so I can't really get myself to enjoy them the way I want to, knowing how they'll always be somewhat "off". Now, with the small emulation setup, I've found myself really enjoying playing (never noticed any lag or slowdown with the Wii emulators), which has me seriously questioning the whole physical "collecting" thing. Some time ago, I had spent more time shopping for games than actually playing them, often buying crap which I now know I won't ever bother playing through a second time (some of which I have not even touched a single time since buying).

There's still something really nice about playing on actual hardware, even if emulation is perfect, as I'm really fascinated by the inner workings of the consoles and adore their designs, all viewed in their historical context. I think I'll settle for NTSC consoles with flashcarts as it seems to be a nice compromise and will get rid of a big part of my cartridges, only keeping those beloved ones I keep coming back to. It also feels nice to free those games and put them back out there again for other people to enjoy, instead of keeping them trapped in a closet catching dust, never receiving the intention they deserve.

As always, this is merely a personal preference and I understand that others feel different about the issue. If buying tons of games you'll never actually play makes you happy, do as you wish.

I've switched between it and curved CRTs a lot (I also own a cheap shitty 90s CRT that I use regularly because reasons) and the difference in lag is unnoticeable. This is also pretty unscientific, but whenever I went to calibrate a rhythm game like Guitar Hero/Rock Band on the TV there would be 0ms of calibration required. When I eventually switched to an LCD for high res stuff I had to recalibrate all those games because the input lag was totally off.

I think you're thinking of HD CRTs (the widescreen ones)

If your TV takes component input then it's definitely an EDTV.

>> No.4374726 [DELETED]

>>4374704
Are you for real? Is that what you actually think?
>Component video is capable of carrying various signals, such as *******480i*********, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, 2160p and beyond. I run 240p over YPbPr all the time. That's literally the reason the Wii is so popular as an emulation device for CRT use, because it can do 240p over component. Holy shit, man. You really need to do some research.
>>4374719
No, I'm not. You are very misinformed. Many, many SD CRTs, flat-screen and non support component input for 480i/240p signals. Some are EDTV CRTs, sure, but not the majority.

Don't believe a word this guy is saying about WEGA sets. Some are HDCRTs and do in fact have digital processing but you'll know them because they say Hi-Scan or Super Fine Pitch on them. To even entertain the thought that component requires a set be an EDTV is ridiculous. Do your own research though, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FD_Trinitron/WEGA is a good place to start and then check out the article on Enhanced Definition television it self. If these claims of component requiring it be an EDTV were true then I would be a happy camper because I could play my non-/vr/ consoles like PS2 and GCN on my FS13 in 480p, but this is not the case.

Why does there seem to be a preference for curved over flat CRTs here? Flat screens is the best thing that LCD panel technology brought us

>Flat screens is the best thing that LCD panel technology brought us
On the off chance that you're not trolling, flat screen CRTs have nothing to do with LCD panels. In most cases, even trinitrons, it's just a regular tube which has a flat exterior surface but the interior is still curved.

I'm aware. I'm saying the one good thing about LCD is a flat screen.

>it's just a regular tube which has a flat exterior surface but the interior is still curved.
To a degree, sure, it's not perfectly flat, but it's still much flatter than the ones that are curved even on the outside

Flat tubes have geometry issues and use digital adjustment to overcome it.
Far from perfect.

The slightly horizontally curved Trinitron does not have those problems.

ANY tube display that uses flat surfaces to display on uses digital adjusting for the beam to fix the geometry.

Did I step into the fucking twilight zone? Hello?

Sony KV24FS120 owner here. https://docs.sony.com/release/KV20FS120.pdf

Full YPbPr Component support. Goes up to 480i. No 480p. Therefore not "ED". Holy shit. Here's a picture of 240p through YPbPr. Component cables actually support resolutions from 240p-2160p and everything inbetween. There is no locked in ED/HD resolution. I am so sorry, but this is not the case.

Pic related. 240p via YPbPr Component courtesy of HDRetrovision cables.

Don't know where the misinformation about Component Video comes from. Yes, Component video supports 480p. It also displays standard definition 480i (and 240p). My CRT is only Standard Definition, has component input, and displays games properly in 240p.
