Surely we can't pass up this great deal /vr/, everyone knows how rare Super Mario Land without the box or manual is!

Stupid prices from your area/general thread?

I paid $70 for a teal GBC, Pokemon Silver, Metroid II, Dragon Quest I + II, and Tetris.

The Silver cartridge's battery was dead too.

I just didn't feel like looking the prices up or waiting for shipping on the internet.

It's the whole supply and demand thing.

There's games out there with a huge demand and a huge supply (like Super Mario 3) that have low prices, and games out there with low demand and low supply (like MULE) that also have low prices.

Then there's games that aren't really that rare but have a demand that outstrips the supply (like Earthbound), and that's where you get really high prices.

Heh, reminds me of when I looked up 8 Eyes (a Castlevania ripoff for the NES which I'm pretty sure is fairly uncommon) on Amazon just to see how much it's worth. First price I saw was $150, which made me go HOLY SHIT. Then I realized that was for a new sealed copy. A used cartridge goes for less than a dollar. Not surprised, since it's a really obscure game that isn't very good, but it's not Stadium Events-tier rare.

Wha? I thought Mint condition was supposed to mean no wear as in no scratches or dents or damage of any kind. That's what I expect when I read "mint condition."

Heres wiki's defintition: Mint condition is an expression used in the description of pre-owned goods. Originally, the phrase comes from the way collectors describe the condition of coins. As the name given to a coin factory is a "mint", then mint condition is the condition a coin is in when it leaves the mint.[1] Over time, the term "mint" began to be used to describe many different items having excellent, like-new quality.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mint_condition

>> No.436857

>>436756

We both know the right decision.

>> No.436921

>>436803

I consider 'mint' condition to be, if not factory sealed, to be of highest quality otherwise.

No dings, dents, scratches of flaws. The item in question must play perfectly, contain all original manuals, art(if applicable,) and the box/case it came in. If discs, there must be NO scratches whatsoever, the disc top must also have no scratches, along with whatever came with it(the cases are an exception, since those are easily replaced, but everything else better be fucking flawless.)

Mint: factory sealed, nothing wrong with it

Excellent: no factory packaging, but otherwise flawless

Good: decent condition, might need a little cleaning

Anything after this is trash and you shouldn't bother, unless you enjoy fixing things. Then again this is my personal definition for buying stuff, so, apply your own rules to it man.

Ever heard of Discreplay?
They get decant stuff now and then and have fair prices, though every neck-bearded hipster in Lexington has cleared most of the good stuff.

There is also Gameking in eastland if you are rich and stupid and don't mind going into a shady strip-mall. their prices are stupid and i'm not even sure they are still open but... yeah.

Aside from that... we have our crappy static flea-markets and... the internet.

Here is a tip though, there seems to be better stuff (as in goodwills and odd 2nd hand shops.) in the surrounding areas like danville and so on.

Oh and also there was a guy in nicholasville that sold rare stuff but asked way too much for a lot (but undersold other stuff).

I would totally blow him for that, and then sell it on ebay. Not often a 200 dollar blowjoe comes around.

I'd actually give a blowjob or $20 for that game. I can't find it anywhere, so it would be nice.

Do you have the gold plated MK3 limited edition Slammer? You better.

>> No.441191

Guys, these are some poor people who are probably having hard times. They're trying to get some cash for something that is pretty sad.

Don't laugh at them, they don't ahve the luxury of knowing what is and isn't worth what, or what video game generations are, or what is collectible and what isn't.

They aren't trying to scam anybody. Not that this sort of people is above it, but they are just hoping to raise some laughable money, which for them is probably vital. No need to buy it, but this isn't very funny, because they aren't stupid, they're just really, really poor and pathetic.

>> No.441227

>>441191

Some completed listing searches on Ebay will tell them that their shit is overpriced. Scam or no scam, these people are not doing their research, so I have little sympathy.

It's insulting somebody by implicitly stating that they are part of a community you dislike. It's pointlessly antagonistic and brings down the quality of the thread, like we're doing right now.
