Is it bad if I play arcade games with pic related instead of an arcade stick?

Yes, it is an affront to the gods of /vr/ and you should kill yourself for not playing with genuine Japanese seimitsu or sanwa arcade sticks. The games were designed for those.

That gamepad is surprisingly pretty good. I prefer keyboard when playing roms (snes, gen, pce, mame, etc) and I have no trouble doing 360s with Zangief for instance or 1cc-ing games like arcade Final Fight. So I'm a bit of a keyboard elitist. Anyway, was at Best Buy the other day and noticed that controller and saw that it had pretty good reviews on Amazon. So I picked it up and tried it out and was pleasantly surprised. Pretty decent for shmups and such. I still prefer keyboard for action games. Excellent for Saint's Row 2 (pc) which practically requires an analog stick for driving. Also worked well with DreamCast games on an emulator.

>>4338882
I own one of those. It's an alright pad, but it's annoying because the d-pad lacks a central divot, so you can accidentally press all four directions at once. This happens to me a lot since my thumb tends to rest at the center of the pad.

Seimitsu is great. Screwed up my wrist a year back or I'd be using an LS-56 in at least one of my sticks. LS-40 is also great.

Hayabusa is a great stick but mostly after modding. Lever-modded Hayabusa is top tier, and the Kowal oversized actuator/octogate mod comes very close to it while being significantly easier and cheaper to install. Also, it seems that at least some new Hayabusas come with Omron switches now.

>> No.4345537

>>4345525

There's nothing "mushy" about an F310 d-pad. That's the problem. D-Pads should *not* click. Ever.

>> No.4345678

>>4345524
That's interesting because I feel the opposite. It seems like if one doesn't click for a person the other will. I like LS-40s smoothness compared to the LS-32 which has this almost creaky feeling of tension. Regardless I'd say I prefer levered over unlevered switches any day.

>> No.4345683

What's the verdict on LS 38 anyway?

>> No.4345752

>>4345683
In the past few years I've made an effort to try out every Japanese lever but hot damn is Seimitsu making that difficult. I haven't tried the LS-38 myself but I'll probably pick it up along with the LS-62 next time there's a holiday sale. From what I'm seeing it looks like an LS-32 with a stiffer spring.

I did pick up the Infiltration stick recently before the price went up at PAS and it's a lot of fun. It's my first Korean lever so I have no basis for comparison, but it's a great product. Rubber grommet means the return to neutral is completely smooth and the stick is super sensitive and precise.

>> No.4346053

>>4345678
Levered switches make the diagonals too large, I only like them for 8 way movement games.

>>4345524
The ls-40 was semitsu trying to fix ls-32 problems without considering how it changed the functionality, so it's a really nice feeling stick with a tiny deadzone. Makes a good shmuppan stick though.

I guess this is the best thread to ask in (without starting a new thread).
I'm trying to find a new controller for emulation as my F310 is starting to falter on me.
I figured a Saturn controller might work well enough, but I can't seem to find one in acceptable condition.
There are a few knockoff USB ones on Amazon, though. Anyone have an experience with those?

This pads good for any non fighting game. The dpad rolls very nice but has no raised center. You learn how to put JUST the right amount of force on the dpad so that it rolls like a dream without pressing all 4 directions at once. I find for shmups its a comfy pad if you have small hands because the dpad doesn't need alot of force making steering your ship effortless.

No, I run FB Alpha on a brand new laptop. No, I won't emulate the Mega Drive version because I already own the cartridge since the early 90s. Yes, I did play Outrun (and many other games) in the arcades back then, and yes, I'm old.
