I find it hard to believe that this game caught on has much has it did considering the amount of bullshit that it contains. I love the humor, the art direction, the soundtrack, but aside from a few levels its pretty bad, right?

Down the Tube isnt that bad once you find that hidden canister in part 2. But I feel that this game has the Sonic 1 syndrome where every level after first one gets less fun just for the sake of being harder.

That's funny because to me the first level feels like a bit of a waste. It's funny, and was good for getting the player ready for how things work but it's the least 'fun' level in the game.

EWJ is all sizzle but with little steak. It's one of the best soundtracks ever, features amazing characters, and the art style is fantastic. Stage design is a bit rough, but still very fun because it compliments the game's style.

Nobody ever said EWJ is the best game ever. Everyone accepted the game for what it was back in the day—a wacky, toony platformer with some charm and humor.

I always thought Earthworm Jim was a mediocre platformer (albeit with some pretty good animation), and felt that it was overrated. As a kid I knew this was an unpopular opinion and mostly kept my mouth shut.

Earthworm Jim is all style over substance and the bullshit levels especially in EWJ2 are lame. Even as a kid I found the game average at best and lacking polish compared to other big name platformers. If it was released today as an indie title you'd call it pretentious reddit bullshit, and well you wouldn't be wrong.

I never understood how anyone can have any long-term interest in games like this. EWJ feels like every other copy-and-paste B-class shovelware platformer, like The Mayan Adventure. Art direction alone isn't enough to salvage an otherwise bland game.
