How's this game?
It is true that only the first level is good?

>> No.4334601

It's rancid dogshit in literally every way, but people will defend it because they remember enjoying it 20 years ago.

It's bad but it's not rancid dogshit until the driving sections. THEY can go fuck themselves.

Everyone remembers the IG88 fight. What they don't remember is that it ran at about 10fps.

fucking, this

It's a great game, don't listen to the haters. Third person shooter with floaty jetpack flying that can also be played in first person.
Steam version is better, although you take too much damage from the higher framerate.

you also deal more damage with the pulse weapon so it balances out

The first and the final level are good.
The asteroid shooting level (I think level 3 or 4) is fine, simple arcade shooting, not as good as the other flight levels though.
The on-foot levels, which are the majority of the game, are not great by today's standards, but it's playable. Being able to switch between 1st and 3rd person camera helps a lot. Just avoid the useless cinematic camera.

Great game, first level is actually not even that good since Rogue Squadron remade it and it was many times better.

It's a nice third person shooter with platforming in the Star Wars universe. For a launch window N64 title, it did great, I personally like it mroe than Jedi Knight II.

Welp I haven't played it in over 17 years but I am going to be one of those guys and say that I had plenty of fun with it and remember liking it. Then again I loved the majority of N64 games I played. It was my favorite console of the three back then. Now though I would say the PS1 was the better console. It sure had enough games to be objectively better than N64. Saturn isn't good enough to be in the running for even second best imo.

But anyways this isn't about consoles from back then. The game was fun OP. I loved being able to use the jetpack. The games levels were pretty varied to. I just can't remember the end though.

Well, SOTE has something that most other Star Wars games lack: an atmosphere that actually matches the classic trilogy.
There's more Star Wars in SOTE than in any of the non-original trilogy movies.

It's worth playing if you want more Star Wars vidya. Dark Forces is better though.

Those monsters on the sewer level inhabited my nightmares for many years

this.

this game, dark forces, dark forces 2, and the x-wing/tie fighter games are the only games i can think of that really have that classic star wars atmosphere. i think all of those games came out in that small window between the re-release of the classic trilogy and the announcement of the prequel trilogy.

>> No.4337148

This game feels way more Star Wars than the prequels do, and it's a lot of fun besides the wonky controls.

>> No.4337149

The first Rogue Squadron has it too

>> No.4337156

A very Star Wars game. Not a great game, but a good game and a must play if you dig expanded universe stuff before the prequel/Disney feel really took over.
