What gives it such a retro feel?

this controller feels like videogames

>> No.4334297

It was made in the pre-2000 times.

>> No.4334313

The buttons' colors, SEGA logo and a relatively simple layout.

>> No.4334320

Never owned a Saturn myself but its controllers look very comfy.

Feels like videogames.
Looks like Fisher-Price.

That controller looks perfect. Japanese Sega Saturn always looked better than the U.S. Sega Saturn.

So like the American SNES then?

I don't know. The big, blocky purple design looks like a toy to me. The normal SNES is far sleeker and more refined.

Both look good actually.
>not owning both JP and US consoles

>> No.4334740

>>4334674
Why would I need to own the US console? I have a PAL and Japanese NTSC console.
The US model really is quite ugly. The placement of the power light is so terrible and it looks like a toy with those blocky purple switches. A really awful looking console, one of the worst designs for any console, really. The Master System II is more appealing.

>> No.4334742

Anyone got one of those PC Saturn controllers manufactured by Sega themselves? Costs a liver to get, though.

Why would you own two systems that look the same though? And one of them at 50hz... with the JP model it's enough.

Opinions, not relevant.

>>4334743
>Why would you own two systems that look the same though?
Because they are different. It's not about "collecting" every revision.
>And one of them at 50hz... with the JP model it's enough.
I've had the PAL SNES for decades, I got the Jap one only five years ago or so. If I didn't have one to begin with I'd probably only get the Jap one, but the US model remains without purpose.

I see, I guess I can understand that if you already owned one from your childhood.

it's like the most maxed out retro controller, 6 buttons, big d-pad, comfy design, and shoulder bumpers, with no modern additions like analog sticks or grips
it's gud

>> No.4334754

Saturn pad is almost perfect.
Only complain I have is that the XYZ buttons feel a bit hard on the thumb, especially when you're playing fighters and using them quickly and a lot, they are a bit painful after a while, but the ABC buttons are perfect.

The American SNES looks ugly as hell. It's like owning a van, if a van was a console. Where as the Japanese SNES looks more like a corvette, if a corvette was a console.

American SNES, as long as you remove the plastic pins on the inside of the cartridge slot, will take any region game (PAL too if you mod it). PAL and JP SNES require a cartridge adapter which looks ugly too. Compromises in either case.

>> No.4335936

Nope. The standard super famicom design looks p generic.

Boxy design is superior, and all the retarded collectors who regurgitate some weeaboo's opinion don't know shit about style.

Except he's absolutely wrong. The boxy design was Nintendo's way of saying "fuck you America, you don't have style". Luckily Sega wasn't the same way and gave us the super sexy Sega Genesis model 1.

Guess what? It's not.
Both US SNES and Super Famicom look good.

False. Only the Super Famicom looks good. The US SNES looks trashy. The SNES Jr looks better than the US SNES.

>> No.4336236

Why does it look "trashy"?
Hard mode: don't use "boxy" buzzword either. Give actual arguments.
Until then, it's your subjective, uninportant opinion on the matter which shouldn't be listened by anyone.

The problem with that statement is that the 'Murican SNES is fugly. Why do you burgers have such bad taste?

>> No.4336283

>>4336275
Not a burger, which is why I enjoy the whole euro/australia vs USA shitposting so much, I'm merely an expectator.

Both US SNES and SFC look great, and you only want to convince yourself that the US SNES is ugly because of some silly /int/ reasons, lol.

You still fail to give proper arguments and only resort to buzzwording with "trash", "box" and "burgers"!

The shape may resemble that, but the top is smooth & curvy. However I prefer the Japanese Sega Saturn too.
