Not including the Nintendo test cartridges and deveolper cartridges, probably Sculptor's Cut.

Yeah it's bad, but I've never seen it sold ANYWHERE.

>> No.432927

You mean, gray cart.. Right? Though they are both more plentiful than some others.

>> No.432928

I don't know if it's THE rarest but I know Ogre Battle 64 is fairly rare, they apparently didn't make as many copies as they were supposed to for the US market.

>> No.432930

I'd wager Ogre Battle.

although I think it's probably harvest moon

No, and no.

These games were made in the hundreds of thousands. Start with the exclusive rental titles. Those are significantly, and by that I mean, absolutely more rare than anything released retail.

Sculptor's Cut
Stunt Racer 64
Beast Wars Transmetals
Super Bowling
International Superstar Soccer
Worms Armageddon(not rental only)

>> No.432974

>>432918
>>432891
I have both of these, even my cousin has another copy of Superman64, so they can't be rare. Except for Jet Force Gemini because it was, in fact, created by Rare.

>> No.432971

>>432946
It's a pretty crummy game, much like any other Blockbuster title, but it is seeing a huge surge in price increases. Particularly in the box. Sculptor's Cut is seeing the highest demand. Followed by Beast Wars: Transmetals. Both of which command five hundred+ dollars for the game, box, and manual. Condition almost doesn't matter when you're talking about things that were only made in the low thousands.

>> No.432976

>>432957

Worms Armageddon is rare? Wow. I have an N64 copy of it and there's another one on sale in a charity shop near me. Maybe I should go pick it up.

>> No.432980

Damn, I remember renting Sculptor's Cut as a kid. I didnt know it was rare.

>> No.432989

I used to have Sculptor's Cut and Worms Armageddon.
I had no idea they were so rare.
I mean... it did take me forever to find copies of them back in the day, but I never really thought about it.

But I sold em years ago. I wonder what ended up happening to em.

>> No.432995

>>432971
Doesn't have the box

>> No.432998

>>432976
Yes. Fifty dollars for a copy is a fair price. Not a deal, but it's fair. In the box, it is nearly two hundred, with a manual.

>>432980
As a BB exclusive, it never saw retail shelves, and the instruction manuals are all but extinct. There are INCREDIBLY low numbers of them left. I would guess less than a thousand. Cartridges, maybe a couple thousand, but the instruction and the box.. Those are where the real money is.

Wow. I think the charity shop is selling it for 7 quid.
Well I know what I'm doing tomorrow.

>> No.433036

>>433008
The problem with the boxes, is that they were only ever given to Blockbusters in the US(possibly in Canada as well, I don't know). The only reason people might have had them ten years ago, was because they bought from BB in a liquidation sale, or for sale of used stuff when the 6th gen stuff started filling the shelves.

Lucky people, if you ask me. This particular copy was probably a former worker. Just judging by its condition.

>> No.433037

tfw have a copy of ogre battle 64.

NTSC, not PAL. PAL copies are a dime a dozen. In the US, the console ports of Worms saw terrible sales.

>> No.433049

>>433008
Hell the box is probably much rarer than the cart, I bought my copy from blockbuster when I was 13 for like $5 and it didn't come with a manual or box even though the cart itself is in near perfect condition

>> No.433051

>>433017
Again, not PAL. Only the US/CAN release is rare.

I love me some Team17, and I know you Brits do, too. But the general US populace wouldn't have any of it on the N64.

Value =/= rarity

Super Smash Bros. is price around thirty-five dollars, yet, it's not rare at all. Conker's Bad Fur Day is another example. Not rare, but commanding nearly sixty dollars.

>> No.433128

Is the N64 really that great for collecting? even looking on ebay scultptor's cut is expensive but not RIDICULOUS

>> No.433140

>>433126
>same

Demand means a lot. Think, Beast Wars Transmetals is the fourth or fifth rarest title on the N64, yet it's demand price is less than Conker's. It's a good time now, for collectors, to get the truly rare games before they're all scooped up, and then you only have one or two people willing to sell but only at an incredibly high price.

PNT is North American, haha. It's like franchise gamestop.

This was in the South. We had a large amount of N64 stuff, but nobody bought it. I guess 6 copies in 3 years of stale inventory isn't that much now that I think about it

>> No.433226

BB sold off a lot of their stock when the 6trh gen stuff came in. That's pretty much how people got their hands on Stunt Racer, Sculptors Cut, Beast Wars and Daikatana

After the rental period for the game was over they'd let you buy whatever games they were getting rid of. Sometimes they'd still have their box, but usually not. Same thing happened with Final Fight Guy and Hagane.

>> No.433283

>>433236
Pretty much. There weren't many made, so it could have been, initially, an attempt to survey the population to see what games were good and which ones went the fastest, without actually taking the money and time for a full-on production run of hundreds of thousands of games.

It didn't work well, since almost all of the exclusives were crummy, but then again, that's making the assumption that this is the reason for them being rental exclusive.

I would really like to know myself the facts about why they were rental only.

That is true for most. Worms Armageddon is one that happens to be a really fun game. I love it to death, but the PC version was far superior.

And the reason I got Beast Wars Transmetals, is because I remember playing it a bunch as a kid, and renting it weekend, after weekend, after weekend and playing it with my brother. Now, I see it as a pretty mediocre fighting game, but I loved Beast Wars then, so that's probably why.
