I know valve said they canned it because it would've fell short of being a fun game, but I still think the concept is solid. I remember people were talking about things like the pyro having a semi-realistic flamethrower that caused flames to spew out from the point of impact and fill rooms like bunkers to clear them out, but if he was shot in the back, his flame tank would hiss and explode.

Things like needing a spotter for sniping and engineers being able to supply ammo/maintenance to heavy weapons guys to speed up reloads/barrel changes were pretty cool too.

Fuck I would have loved lighter red colored infantry for nod. They look so facist and dystopian on this, I love it.

Also those more pale colored muzzleflashes on the infantry that look kinda realistic, the ones in the game just looked too video-gamey (saturated yellow, red). Based on the nod soldier shooting the MRLS on the right it looks like they may have originally been planned to shoot projectiles (white laser blasts?).

Also really like the directional muzzle flash on the walker on the left, and the distinct LACK of the laser dot bs that was used for it in place of giving it a projectile. Yeah I know the 120mm probably fired an APDS but they could've used a quick sliver-shaped projectile for it instead of the ubiquitous golden dot.

It's the 1/31 sample that is the whole game complete for both characters with different enemy placements and amounts for each character, way more acid rounds for Jill, less shotgun ammo but more handgun ammo for Chris, different difficulties (besides the aforementioned amounts enemies also take way less or way more bullets), different item places and there are a different kind of ammo called dumdum rounds for the magnum, you only get one ink ribbon at a time and it is also used like the MO Disk, and there are only 3 crests to open the back door. The sad truth about prototypes is that many of them are either final/effectively final or approaching it. Very early and very different prototypes are rather uncommon to find, and you can probably multiply that by a few factors if it is a first party Nintendo game. If a prototype of the first generation games were ever found, chances are it would be a final version prototype, an in-development localization, or a mostly complete preview ROM that might have a few minor differences. All cool, surely, but the chances of tracking down a drastically different or very incomplete Japanese version are quite slim. And if one ever showed up somewhere, you can bet that mouthbreathing clickbait writers would hype the shit out of it to the point that it would either sell to a moneybags hoarder or Nintendo would step in and have the listing closed.
