I tried using PCSXR to play some psx games, so far pretty good, with exception of one strange thing: The select button doesn't works, and yes, I already tried to remap it to other buttons of my controller and even the keyboard, rebooting the emulator, but for some reason it still doesn't works.

Any idea of what is going on?

>> No.4310697

Yeah, you're using PCSX-R. That's literally what's wrong.

Last time I tried mednafen you couldn't play with a bigger internal resolution besides the original.
I quite like the look of some 3D games (like Megaman Legends in the OP) without being super pixelated.

Fuck you, what the fuck do you know about artistic choices? This is what the developers intended, who the fuck are you to try and "improve" their creative vision? Plebs like you should be gassed.

I'm sure the game's artists artistically chose the PS1's resolution.

No need for name calling, anons, I just want to replay some old games that I like in a new perspective.

That's what experimenting with filters is for. And if I really wanted to call you a name, I would've already.

Faggot.

Should've sticked with Mednafen.

If you're talking about CRT filters, I don't like that type of thing in emulators.
I appreciate the real thing in its own way, but in emulators it's generally just a overlay that looks good in still, but not in motion.

>>4310865
Nice, I'm still flidding with the configurations, can't seem to fix the select button thing yet, but any quick tip on how to do perspective correction? Can't find the option.

You can change that inside the config file (get notepad++ and do some small search on what command alters the resolution)

Then you want retroarch's beetle PSX HW core.

>> No.4311495

Try Xebra, or even psxfin (it has a well-documented compatibility list, despite being old).
Anyone who claims that there is a single ideal PS1 emulator is full of shit, it's nowhere near that level. I use 5 different emus and some games only work on one of them.

5 psx emus? On what occasion you switch between them? So far I am satisfied with mednafen, but when I try to stream it crashes and had the same issue with xebra, been looking for something stream-friendly since.

Mednafen-PSX works with every game. Sorry but your knowledge of PSX emulation sounds like it was from the previous decade.

Mednafen is also pretty demanding and it's useful to recommend other options for someone who may not get the best performance out of it. And are you saying it has 100% compatibility?

No, but it has 99.9%. Guess what? One of the very few games it doesn't work with probably didn't even work with all PSX models (it's that poorly programmed).

This is what happens when you get an emudev that isn't incompetent. You get real progress.
