Saved an old IBM from my middle school when I was young, used it to play DOS games and spent many nights lit only by the glow of the screen, trying to puzzle out how to beat Leisure Suit Larry.
My mother threw it out while I was gone for a week, when I was 16. When asked, she said "you never used it".

When I bought my gamecube I left my N64 aside. I had like 50 games for it. Then I moved to college and a few year later I felt nostalgic about my N64 (and the GC was shitty anyways). When I asked my mom about it, she told me she gave it to my uncle. Then I asked my uncle about it just to find out he traded it for a PS2 with no games. My N64 collection would be worth a lot nowadays. I had to buy everything back.

My brother sold our PS1 and the entirety of our game collection for a copy of Rainbow Six 3 on Xbox and a subscription to Xbox Live. I was pissed.

My ex stole all of my game collection (NES, SNES, N64, GC, Virtual Boy, Genesis, Sega CD, Saturn, DC, Gameboy, DS, Game Gear, Sega Nomad, PS2, Xbox) and sold it and used the money towards getting herself a car. Long story short, we broke up.

By the time the IBM fell into my hands it was antique, covered in cobwebs at the back of a computer lab in my school at the time. At personal cost I managed to convince the principal to let me take the unused old thing, and spent the rest of that year learning how to type commands and get games which were shareware by that point to run. There was a magic feeling you'd get when you weren't sure if you'd done it right, were too ignorant to really understand what you were doing, but the screen flashed and you saw the game into pop up in the darkness, an old story that had been waiting around for someone like you to uncover it again.
I miss that IBM, but at least I gave it one last good run at the end of its life, after years of moldering away untouched for years, ignored and abandoned, it had one final romp of use, and was loved.

In 2001 I was given a GameCube as a present for my 9th birthday from my parents and older brother. The first game I ever received was melee. Over a period of about 10 years, I amassed a nice collection of games that I purchased solely brand new and kept in immaculate condition with manual, cover art, everything. I had all the classics -- Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime, Double Dash, Sunshine, Sonic Adventure 2, even the more obscure and rare stuff like Phantasy Star Online, Gauntlet Dark Legacy and Fire Emblem. Probably around 50 or so games in total.

At the time, I had all of my shit set up in the basement, with all of my games on a shelf below the TV. I was cleaning the shelf, so I took all the games down and temporarily sat them on the floor, but before I finished cleaning my mom called me upstairs. I went upstairs to see what she wanted, and accidentally left the door slightly cracked.

In the 2 or so minutes that I spent talking to her, my dog (who pissed on everything) managed to make his way into the basement, find the stack of games that I had sitting on the floor next to the TV, and piss on each and every last one of them. The game discs still worked, but all of the manuals, cover art, etc. were permanently ruined.

I came down, saw it, and practically pissed myself. After that, I felt dead inside and just ended up selling the discs and never bought them back. I still consider it one of my biggest fuckups in life.

He's pretty successful on YouTube, in spite of his comments earlier this year. He's got 3 million subscribers and has resumed putting out videos. Even if you don't like his content, you can't deny the large amount of influence he's had on internet culture in the last 7 years or so.

The dog knows your a bitch if it pisses on your stuff. If you can't be a man to a dog then all of your friends, your kids, the women you meet, every one of them is going to see the same smell on you, they're going to know what you are and they're going to treat you like shit and betray you because they know that you can never be what they need you to be. You're their compromise, their failure, their burden, you're the reason they hate themselves and wonder why they don't deserve someone better.
