So I just purchased a CDi. What am I in for?
What other games should I try?

Apparently the thing is both region free and has no copy protections, so I can just burn and play anything. Anyone have experience doing so?

The Apprentice is the only "good" game on the CD-i. Everything else is just shovelware, abandonware, and awful, awful junk shit.

>The apprentice seems fun

It is. It's simple but solid, basically a vertical scroller like Kid Icarus with a somewhat unfair but still satisfying challenge level. Like a tame Kaizo Mario or IWBTG. But with really lovely, colorful pixel art.

It works within the pitiful limits of CDI hardware to deliver a genuinely fun, focused experience. Just don't expect it to be super deep or expansive, it's all precision platforming start to finish.
