Been meaning to revisit the Close Combat series. What's the best game in the series to check out first?

Spectacular game with very uneven releases. Bridge Too Far was ALWAYS my favorite, though the campaign is lopsided, it swings back the other way over time. And who cares, it's accurate.

Normandy is no good. 3 is probably the best, but it's tank-heavy. 1 Is pretty good too, frankly.

Everything after 4 is not very good, nor balanced.

But they're all still better than most other games of this type.

They really shine in multiplayer. Spectacular fun to spend a whole day running a full campaign.

If you like this, and can tolerate hexes, try Steel Panthers. Not the same game, but probably the best other 2 player wwii option.
