Hows it going /vr/?
What are some of your favorite Mega Man songs?
Mega Man 5 and 6 have some of my favorite tunes, and I love X2's soundtrack a lot. I always felt like the Mega Man games never got repetitive with all it's sequels because of how different every level is with their themed stages, and tunes. Every game has different bosses, music, stages, I just love it so much how much love was put into these games, every game feels new, and that is probably why every time I decide to play a Mega Man game, its always a struggle to decide "What to play today?"

My top favorite Mega Man songs would probably be
Spark Man
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdl0NPqaH4k

Tomahawk Man
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEvqILvsh-4

Flash Man
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsW3oYwD2oM

and Search Man
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l88-qEhws8I

As for Mega Man X

Spark Mandrill (maybe my favorite Mega Man song in general)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwe9n4Den7M

Crystal Snail
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFQW1DFcWsY

Gravity Beetle
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lItNymlY-jY

Storm Owl
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p3ZspXJHIk

Zero Stage 2 (?)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sg2bxgy9fE

X6 Opening Stage
http://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_271155&feature=iv&src_vid=Fh7B55_FIRI&v=-X3bvxhUDe8

Those are my personal favorites. Hey, how are the Zero games for GBA and DS? They sound like fun, I'd like to try them at some point, but not on an emulator, so what would be the best one to go out and search for at a flea market or something?

Lol at captcha, Hardman

The Zero series is fucking awesome. It is really fast paced, even compared to the series and feels great to play when you learn how to really control Zero and use the weapons. Thanks to their portability they are really easy to pick up and play too. Z1 might be a bit of a hurdle to get into the series due to it's whacky systems and difficulty but by the time you reach Z4 I will be surprised if you aren't having lots of fun

Thats what I got when I first tried out the series, played it for a 9 hour plane trip to visit Europe, had so much fun with that game. I wish Capcom would throw in the Zero from that game in one of their fighting games. Slashing through everything in that series felt so smooth.

Some of the most immersive games on GBA. The Mega Man Zero games are fast-paced, high-action and high-risk, and my very favorite in the series, especially when I'm in "The Zone". Here are some highlights.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XArZMprx2qM

The rhythmic dance of boss battles. The frenetic dash jumps, dashing away to dodge attacks, dash jumping over their heads and releasing a charged saber followed by a combo.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3zkVr1_ZKk

The appearance of the enemy. The unfolding of his strategy and the plot. The moving of the pieces on the chessboard. The tense environment of war. The urgency of the missions. The sheer amount at stake.

I'm glad I'm not the only person that thinks this, in the other mega man thread they were saying that 6 had the worst music ever, and they were being so angry about how bad 6 was that I was afraid to voice my opinion. You shouldn't be afraid to express your opinions, everyone has different taste. As much as I love Mega Man 2 and 3, I feel like those games cast a shadow upon the other great games in the series. Most people say that MM2 and MM3 have the best soundtracks, it's all opinions, but I feel like many people haven't given the other games a chance. Mega Man 6 has great music and its always been my favorite from the classic series. The split paths in stages gave it some replay value, plus when revisiting certain stages they change colors, I always found that neat. Its the little things.

Level design. Blaze Heatnix's stage especially. Other than that I'm not sure. Gate's lab was pretty dumb too but that fucking remix man.

Metroid and Mega Man play completely different. Everyone usually starts with Mega Man 2, I don't recommend starting with Mega Man 1, it won't be easy if you are new to Mega Man.

OP here
Just wondering, has anyone read the Mega Man manga "Mega Man Gigamix"? I own all three parts, and I love the art work. It shows about every robot master in action at some point, and even the Stardroids from Mega Man V for Gameboy. I really love when there are things like this, where they add even more life and character into a series I love. Its so cool to see the robot masters have their own personalities.

Which Mega Man games are actually considered retro and relevant to this board?

Selectable stages are bad enough; multiple routes makes it even worse. Everyone knows the games don't really start until wily's castle.

All of them. People even talk about Command Mission here. Megaman himself is retro.
