What happened this year to cause Saturn games to drop off like this? Is the bubble finally cracking?

I paid 85 bucks for a very good copy of resident evil 1 sega Saturn.

I don't even own a Saturn.

Bubble still exists. Sadly couldn't find it complete in box above acceptable condition for any reasonable price so I said fuck it and paid 85 bucks for a game I can't play.
LOOKS COOL ON THE SHELF THO HUR

The Sega saturn was cracked in 2016. Now you can connect an external hdd and play roms using real hardware.

I have a little collection of resident evil things. The saturn box art matched up perfectly with the biohazard hd remake box art, and made my collection look symmetrical when I arranged it all.

Basically I OCD'd 85 bucks out of my bank account for a little aesthetic.

playing backups is easier now, they'll be worth as much as ps1 games soon.

actually the looming crisis looks like structural unemployment, not this generation's manbaby midlife crisis industry. enjoy your emulators and hope your career is automation-proof.

Emulation my man, Mednafen came out with something rock solid and now there's a big decrease in physical demand now that there's a cycle accurate alternative.

I'd guess it's a combination of ODEs being available and better emulation in Mednafen. I wouldn't take PriceCharting as the gospel though.

Does anyone know if I can use a cheap Japanese ram cart to save my games on a North American Saturn?
Also can you remove the ram carts in game before you save?

As mentioned the spectacular emulation and drive replacements are probably a large factor. I also think maybe given all the hate the system gets on this board, people are not finding the library of games satisfying to their tastes when they tried it. To me that's a good thing, as I find the library of games suitable to mine and I got all the games because at one time they were all cheap when no one wanted them. I would love for that time to return as there are still about 80 more titles I want for the system.

>>4268939
I do not think that is done yet. Prof. Abrasive has suspended work on furthering it at this time. His patreon is also paused for the time being while he moves, but it should be available again to those interested.

>>4275937
The save carts have no region locks. I will advise against using a cheap one by Interact. As for removing the save carts, I have not attempted that while the system was on. I treat those cartridges as I did with cartridges for SNES/Genesis.

Wrong. Saturn emulation kicked off around 2005.
