Been listening to the Space Harrier theme recently, and saw a comment saying that it's similar to an opening to a show called Blake's 7.

It's most likely a coincidence, but it made me think of any other retro themes that are similar to other songs you may have heard.

There's the obvious

But the less obvious.

What about you /vr/, what retro vidya do you find similar to other pieces of music?

It'd be nice if we kept Yuzo Koshiro to a minimum though.

It's Step Daughter, was part of their album Jive Jive. Incidentally, SMS Sonic was composed by Koshiro

Incidentally, wasn't "The best is yet to come" stolen from somewhere else, I remember hearing a similar piece but can't find anything about it now.

Exactly, we don't need a million comparisons of Streets of Rage with other music when it's been done to death before. I'd rather see some comparisons I haven't heard before.

Did Koshiro also steal Ys musics?

Gotta say, Sonic 2's Hilltop Zone music always sounded like a super condensed version of Supertramp's Bloody Well Right to me.

I understand wanting to keep the yuzo to a minimum but to call the guy a hack is just wrong, shouldn't have expected much from a vega faggot though

>Sea is a Lady is one of my favourite albums of all time.
>Played a lot of Sonic back in the day

Oh man, I didn't even notice although, listening to it several times it's hard to pick up the similarities.

Looking back, being a Sega kid really made me a big fan of bands like T Square, Casiopea and people like Toshiki Kadomatsu, since they were obvious influences for the music you'd hear in their games.

It's no surprise when you hear similar tracks between them, and when the composers even reference them as influences for their music.

Maybe only a passing similarity, but it's there.
