Are both Crocs playable on modern systems?
Last time I tried there was no sound on both games.

I loves it. Gotta put together a late 90s PC soon so I can have a go again.

The controls are better but literally nobody online seems to know PS1 Croc has analog controls as well. You just have to turn them on manually.

>>4258868

Croc 2 definitely is, Croc 1 I think you need a glide wrapper to get in-game and a pre-7 system to even run the installer.

The music combined with the dark backgrounds gave a really somber tone to this game

>tfw you had a pirated copy of the game
I was surprised to find out that the game had music.

I knew about the analog support but I never had trouble with the tank controls besides those minigames where you need to press buttons to shoot at things or grab jewels.

Replayed this shit recently and even with save states I had trouble with this mini game. Hard to believe that I 100% this game as a kid.

I played Croc 1 and 2 a lot when I was younger, but don't ever want to touch them again.
I'm fairly sure that they're actually bad games and would rather my nostalgia stay intact.

shitty ass game with terrible controls, no wonder nintendo told argonaut to fuck off

that shot of the sad caged king gobbo on the intro always scared me

They're objectively good in everything BUT controls, if you can get re-acquainted with that you can still enjoy them.

I wish Croc's soundtrack had gotten a CD release, so many tracks fade out just as they're getting good. Fucking PS1.

i like it and its nostalgic but you are right the controls aren't good but im playing it on an emulator so my investment is only time

I thought was the only one with this opinion.

The only thing it didn't have was the might of Nintendo's marketing behind it.

I hate how this game is so comfy in terms of soundtrack and visuals, but the actual gameplay is horseshit. Why would they use tank controls in a platformer?

>> No.4272278

It's probably got a lot to do with its history of being a Yoshi title running on a Super FX SNES and its d-pad, as well as entering its independent development at the beginning of the PS1's life before the analog controller, which came out just a few months before the game. Analog control is still there and certainly helps with the camera, but Ape Escape it is not.
