Does anyone know if an American N64 region modded for Japanese/NTSC-J will work with a N64DD?

I know the thing below the N64 is N64DD

What's the rest? Bottom says CD64, what's that?
No clue what's on the top
This thing is awesome

You can run f-zero x expansion DD on your normal n64 with an everdrive. There's no reason to get a 64DD unless you're extreme collecting.

I had never heard of it either, it was a third party interface that let you load ROM's off of a CD. They're on eBay, but if you want one, picture related.

The only difference between the two is the region locking plate, but honestly if you're spending $600+ on a DD and it didn't work on a US console for whatever reason is the extra $30 for a JP one really that big of a deal?

That image would work better with model 1 Genesis and Sega CD.

And people complain about the Sega Genesis add-ons, yet Nintendo gets a free pass? I swear Nintendrones are hypocrites.

those work too.
im not even sure what the disk drive brought to the table if every game on it can be converted to cart and work on the base n64 hardware.

I thought the appeal of the DD was purely for expanded storage space beyond what an N46 cart (at the time) could hold?

dont you mean, all of it?

Z64, uses zipdiskettes and works like a flashcart and dumper

n64DD, some nintendo own magnectic disk, can store useless files, apparently only a song dj kind of game/software uses it
>bottom
CD64, works like a flashcart, uses CDroms

for the n64 only the rumble pack is a game improving or required for some games

Thank god I was only into that kind of autism for half a generation, it's especially sad for anyone still clinging to corporate manufactured tribalism long after the fight has ended.

The PC-FX might have done it best if it had lived long enough (and knocked a bit off of it's launch price).

Top is Mr. Z64. Like the CD64 at bottom and Doctor V64(not in pic, it's generally white) are all backup stations, to dump/run games in the 90's and early 2000. N64 was likely the last gen with backupstations in this sense(from NES to N64 all had some). After that flash cards became popular(most with adapter to connect to PC which would also allow dumping games).

There's no pass through on the 64DD so the CD is just a useless prop the other shit is sitting on top of.

I actually own a N64 DD and a PAL/NTSC modded N64 and it works fine with it.

The saving function doesn't work on an everdrive though, so if you want to make some tracks on your own then you lose them all as soon as you restart the console.
