Anyone else think it's weird that Ness attacks with a bat? I know it's supposed to make him seem like a normal kid, but just imagine him whacking stuff with a bat, beating creatures dead with it. It seems very violent.

>> No.424829

Do you think this is a mother fucking game? You are saving the damn world here, shit is gonna go down!

>> No.424851

What the hell else would a typical white kid have that could be used as a weapon?

How exactly do you expect to kill something without being violent?

>> No.424935

Well he's a fan of baseball, so its only natural. Not as natural as, say, using psychic powers, maybe?

It misses every other time.

The moment I fell in love with Earthbound was when you have to fight the policemen to unblock the road. I was getting around to appreciate and enjoy the dull but tense combat system, and as I was trying to get through the fight after dying once like an idiot it hit me:
I was playing as a 12-year-old boy flinging a baseball bat against a whole room full of cops.
The sheer craziness of that moment, and how it keeps getting crazier every damn second (Wrecking up a taxi with a frying pan and a yoyo? Why the fuck not?) sold me instantly.

yes

It's that whole vibe that made me fall in love with the game. When I first got it, it was either this or CT. As good as CT was, it could never hold up to the sheer surrealistic madness of Earthbound.

Also beating up the cranky old people...priceless.

I did once, but it took way too much effort. It felt like it was easier to get a Sword of Kings.

>> No.425823

>>425775

My thoughts exactly, people often bitch about the SoK, getting the magic frypan from these slow-respawn and overall slow gameplay of the deep underworld is much more tiring.
I'm already lvl 99 on everyone and still looking for one, been trying for months now.

>> No.425816

>>425661
I never bothered going for that one because Paula is pretty weak physically. I always get the Sword of Kings though.

Also I grind Cookies and Bread Rolls with Jeff in Winters to save up enough for the T-Rex Bat. Gives Ness a huge damage bonus before you would usually get it.

>> No.425959

>>425816
Doesn't the t-rex bat miss 25% of the time though

>> No.425970

>>425959
I think so, but the damage bonus is so good it doesn't really matter if it misses that much.

>> No.425984

>>425959
That's the Casey Bat that you get from Master Barf

>> No.426013

>>425984
And it actually only HITS 25% of the time. It misses 75% of the time. It is really powerful though.

And apparently if you use it from the inventory rather than Bashing with it in battle, it hits 100% of the battle. I just learned this.

I'd play a mother fucking game
