Does anyone actually like auto-scrolling stages?

>> No.424264

I wonder this too.

They're stopping me from completing Yoshi's Island.

What?

>> No.424286

Yes. Why wouldn't I?

the very loooooong maze?

>> No.424361

Sure. Who didn't like the airships in SMB3? 1-4 was pretty neat, too. That floating platform placement wouldn't have worked without autoscrolling.

The airship levels were terrible. They were so dull.

Ecco the Dolphin has left a deep scar in my childhood with auto-scrolling.
>Be 12, finally, finally, finally get to final levels (Ecco was hard as fuck, especially as a kid).
>Level: 'Welcome to the machine.'
>Spent 3 hours trying to clear it, frustration reaching peak levels.
>Manage to clear it.
>Final Boss.
>Get defeated.
>Pic related screen pops up. Again. Normally in Ecco, you always start in the same level you die.
>Stare blankly at screen for 10 minutes, not believing how mean this game is.
>Still traumatized by it.

Alien Soldier was a diamond with a single flaw, one that constantly scrolls while you're trying to do shit like switch weapons. Fuck auto-scrolling stages.

>> No.424460

Fuck auto scrolling levels. They force the player to complete levels at the game's pace instead of their own. The pace in them is usually like a snail stuck in quick sand too.

>mfw that happened to me too
I thought it was a glitch that I didn't respawn in at the final boss, so I reset the game.
I forgot to write down the password for that stage.

I like autoscrolling stages.

So long as it's open enough to move and there are enough platforms. Fuck 5-9 in SMB3.

Technically not autoscrolling but SMW's snake levels in the castles were godly.

I don't think there was a password for the final stage given when you enter it, that, the boss being quite hard on a first try, and if you lose, being zapped back 'welcome to the machine', maybe the meanest stage in gaming history. Enough to make any1 go crazy.
Still, managed to beat it eventually. Feels good.

No, I meant that I didn't write down the "Welcome to the Machine" password, and the last one I had written down was for the first stage of Atlantis. That game taught me never to play games that require passwords late into the night as a child.

Lel, How about that feel when realizing you must've made a spelling error when you wrote the password down... Ecco taught me really be careful when copying passwords a game gives you..

I liked the autoscrolling stage in Gunstar Heroes.
