There was a temple of apshai cart that was really hot. Maybe it was apshai 2 or 3.

Mission impossible
Jump man
Deathtrap dungeon

There's that like 89 or 91 platformer for it with the little dragon dude but I think that's super rare.

At an consumer electronics expo in early 1984 Shigeru Miyamoto saw a C64. He stopped and asked the booth staff a few questions and then walked away, almost immediately forgetting about it.

This would be the closest thing to having a good game the system ever had.

Babbage's Gramps, shows up all over the board like a plague and brings his little consolewar with him wherever he goes. Like all tripfags he's been around long enough to have reached a level of recognizablity that even if he doesn't say anything others will bait him into his SEGA wanking ways, and my GOD does he bite every fucking time. He also likes to randomly shit on Europe unprovoked for reasons that elude me, obviously a bad thing to do if you're talking about gaming on certain computers.

THIS. I never understood why he brings up US vs EU out of the blue, even as an argument to a post that had _NOTHING_ to do with it.

He thinks he's a figure of authority on /vr/ and that he fights to make the board a better place "like it used to be", that he is like a tripfag on old .jp boards and that people love him.

You should check that one out. It's an Amiga port that ends up better than the Amiga original; partially because it retains every effect (parallax scroll, sfx + music playing the same time, minimized loading times), partially because it uses the C64 palette so well that every stage looks twice as unique.

Oh, and the music is fucking awesome.

Seriously, his initial bullshit in that thread was baited out of him (before he went full retard with the "no bad Dreamcast games" claim) but the EU vs US shit came completely out of nowhere, and this is the fucker that wanted to be a mod... but I think I might end up being the asshole that derails the thread by having brought him up, so let's save it for when he does pop in and whines about something off-topic eh gents?

And if you see this post Gramps consider it an early surrender from me for the sake of OP's topic.

I personally didn't think Apex really gut good until Creatures, but Cyberdyne Warrior has its moments. Also bonus easter egg for it I haven't seen mentioned anywhere else: if you press fire on a joystick in part 1 on the title screen a solid band appears behind the "press fire to start" message. If you then start the game with this on it causes the screen to strobe with each gun shot for a muzzle flash effect. Actually quite annoying but neat for a while. I noticed a guy on Youtube did this on a longplay but don't think he explained how.

There's a guy in France who makes modern power supplies for a few 8bits. His C64 PSU even has an inverter to output a proper A/C sine wave on the 9v line. If this thread is still up when I get home from work I'll see if I can find the site again.

That shit is exactly why you never tripfag unless it's actually important for a particular thread's content to know which posts are yours.

Psi-5 Trading Company is a great old game. It's hard as nails, but is really unusual. You take command of a cargo ship travelling through dangerous space, but you don't actually control the ship. Instead you hire a crew from a roster of applicants at the starting location, and you give them commands, and they carry out all the work.
Each brings their own personality (or lack thereos, in some cases) and this can cause conflicts between some of them, so you have to choose carefully. Each one has his or her or its own strengths, and drawbacks. Like the one gunner who has enemies out there looking for him. He's a hell of a shot, but you're going to have extra troubles along the way.
The cravenlator is useless, but all the engineers worry about it anyway

This is probably one of the C64's best. Fly around various weird levels in your rocket-powered space taxi, pick people up and transport them to their destination as quickly as you can, while navigating all the weird puzzles and traps.

It's a better Lord of the Rings game than any of the actual licensed LotR games I've played. The combat mechanics are pretty simplistic and the UI has some issues, but outside of that it's a very fun and unique strategy game. I played it for the first time a few months ago and really enjoyed it.

Be sure to read the manual if you decide to try it out.
