I could never find myself playing any of the Legend of Zelda games. I'm not too fond of the series as a whole, and none of the games came off as anything special, yet get all this praise.

Chrono Trigger is a rubbish game that gives some people the sense of being open-ended and/or non-linear even though it totally isn't. And the characters are not remotely interesting.

While Chrono Cross' characters are also not generally interesting, the game is more interesting than Trigger.

Zelda I and II were the best Zeldas followed closely by aLttP and distantly by LA. 3D Zeldas generally suck, but WW wasn't awful, spoilered for non-retro.

Earthbound is pretty tedious and can be rather boring and the characters have little to no interaction once joining the main party. This can lead to a pallid overall experience, but it's nonetheless a charming as fuck game.

SCD Lunars are better than PS Lunars.

FF games and their amnesiac plot device got stale after three games in a row of that shit (4, 5, 6 or for stateside releases, 4/2, 3/6, 7). And they stopped being good by then, anyway.

There is no bad shmup.

All 16bit era Castlevanias suck, save Rondo/Dracula X. All 2D Castlevanias from the 32bit era onward were at least 'great' if not 'absolutely fan-fuckin-tastic.'

No Harvest Moon game has improved on Harvest Moon 2 for the GBC.

OoT and majoras mask have aged fucking terribly, and nobody will admit it. SMB64 has aged a lot too, but not nearly as badly.
Goldeneye n64 was and always will be a terrible game, it's just proof that any game, no matter how bad, is good with friends.

There's nothing wrong with a fighting game that doesn't use quarter circles and the like. It doesn't make your game casual, it lets people practice the more valuable stuff like how the characters work. Not every game needs to ape Street Fighter.

Every Mario game feels slippery and when reviews claim the controls are solid I just can't understand why. This goes to the early ones.

Random encounters are a design choice that should have died with the NES area. There was no point to doing those ever since the 16-bit consoles were capable of avoiding them.

Mega Man 6 is one of the better Mega Man classic games because the difficulty isn't totally retarded.

I think Chrono Trigger, while a fun game, is overrated. I liked Phantasy Star IV much better since it had a faster pace, better mood, macros, though I prefer ATB. It was the last Phantasy Star RPG and then they made MMOs that were essentially action Linkish games in space.

Nothing against the genre but it's more like WoW, Skyrim, etc., mechanics wise rather than an RPG.

People usually hate crossovers, but I love the idea. Put Sephiroth or even Kefka (or hell, maybe even Ultros) in Final Fantasy I and they'd be near impossible to kill, maybe even no near about it. Light Warriors have no chance against Ultima Weapon, Emerald Weapon, or Ultimecia though, but I don't care, a scaled down Emerald Weapon and Penance (at different times) would be awesome in FF1 (or any classic) but still just as hard.
