You're forgetting that the DC got nearly arcade perfect ports of games that never made it to PS2 and instead languished on PS1 as some of the worst fighting game ports ever created. The DC has the better library overall.

It's my favorite fighting console because of overlooked gems like Tech Romancer, Project Justice, and VF3. Also non-traditional fighters like Power Stone 1 and 2 (which play more like 3D beat me ups).

I would say NeoGeo would be best for fighting games in general, however, the Dreamcast does have a solid lineup as well.

Some games may not be 100% accurate to the arcade, but they are pretty close ports (MvC1, Garou: MotW, and SF3:3S-FftF). It does have a great lineup of SNK games from KOF98-2002, Last Blade 2, and Garou. Capcom supported the system with Power Stone 1&2, Capcom Vs. SNK 1&2, Kikaioh, Project Justice, Vampire Chronicles, Street Fighter 3 W Impact (get Giant Attack and 2nd Impact), Super Street Fighter 2X for Matching Service, Street Fighter Zero 3 and Jojo's Bizarre Adventures. Dead or Alive 2 and Soul Calibur are fun and show off the Dreamcast's 3D capabilities. Arc System Works released Guilty Gear X on the Dreamcast too. While nowhere near as many fighting games as the Playstation, I don't think you will be upset with what the Dreamcast offers for fighting games.

I actually think the D-pad on the Ascii Pad Ft is too loose to my liking compared to a Saturn's D-pad. However, I like that the XYZ buttons are the same size as the ABC buttons. I also dislike the back of the pad having sharp edges meant for people to squeeze, but that lip is too small to squeeze (unless you have infant sized hands) so in the end it can irritate index and middle fingers if you try to hold it in a relaxing manner (fixed by the time they released it for PS2).
