I don't get Knuckles' evolution as a character.

In the modern games, he's a tough guy with a gruff voice and punches things because he's more brute force than goesfast. But wait. In Sonic 3, all he does is indirectly sabotage Sonic by activating traps and shit. And his speciality is GLIDING. That's real hardcore, yo. Granted, he knocked the chaos emeralds out of Sonic but when you get to fight him for real he's a complete joke.

His first own game, Chaotix, was really colorful and upbeat and had a literal bond of friendship gameplay mechanic. When and how did Knuckles become the designated loner tough guy? It's really weird!

I fail to see how anyone can like SA1-2006 Era of Sonic.

It took them till Colors/Generations to get shit good again and they still have a long way to go

Hopefully the new Sonic will be good considering Sonic Team actually got their priorities straight again.

The reason why he used traps and what not is because that was the island he was born and raised on, alone, and there's no good reason for him to directly fight you.
Besides that, the one fight you do have with him is pretty lame. Would you rather have gameplay broken up by a few cut-scenes here and there, or a boring fight with Knuckles?

Besides that, they barely introduced the character, cut them some slack
