How I was supposed to know that after I beat all bosses, get all hearts and sub tanks I'd get a fighting move if I finished this stage 5 times?
Is there even a hint inside the game?

Back then devs implemented cheats and secrets like this for the sole purpose of making it in all those "cheat books" you'd read at the shop but never buy.

Free advertising.
I wouldn't be surprised if those of the most infamous "fake cheats" or "fake easter eggs" were started by publishers themsleves.

This has always been the most disappointing part about Vile, for me: In every game where he makes a boss cameo, they give him zero recovery frames, which means that literally any rapid/continuous-fire weapon will grind him to dust, especially the secret special weapons (Ultimate Armor dash, Hadoken, Dragon Punch) which do constant damage as they connect and pass through.

Vile should have been a better boss fight, given his lore and in-game hype.
