But did you know that Super Bros. 8 wasn't really mario bros sequel? It was a sprite hack of an existing game called Don Doko Don 2 that was only released in Japan.

All these Mariohacks usually were really good games.
mario 14/kaikatsu yanchamaru 3 is really great, as is don doko don 2.

I remember one of my friends having a bootleg gameboy color game that had "Super Mario 7" on it, and it was just some Adventure Island game with Mario hacked in, instead of Master whatever-his-name-is.

Bullshit, it says Bros. and 8 right there, and that's clearly Mario with the hammer

You probably think it's a Sonic sequel lmao

I had an uncle who worked at Nintendo, its the real deal.

Is it possible that Nintendo tested out concepts for future Mario games in poorer countries where piracy was rampant? That way they could cover their ass and say "Nah that was just a bootleg" if the idea didn't pan out. I wonder how many they tried if they apparently made it up to 14 or whatever, pretty cool to think about what could've been had these sold better and Nintendo fully fleshed out these Mario prototypes.

no, but it's possible that konami had some involvement in making super contra 7
