You realize it's never going to get better, right? Fucking author's so busy getting together three batches a year he's barely touched the software side. Plus even with improvements the parallel port speed will still gimp it.

Still waiting for the Chinese to fucking copy it already, hurry the fuck up you rice sniffers you copied the everdrive quickly enough.

I think flahs is better than other solutions but this is unnavepatburu

>> No.4205942

Why? PSIO has horrible compatibility and numerous issues. Just use the swap method, or get your PS1 chipped. (Specifically referring to buying a proper swap disc, not violently removing games from your PS1 while the motor is still spinning)

Already have a chipped PS1

>> No.4206015

>>4205935

If the PSIO was plug-and-play like it was supposed to be we'd have had the bootleg ages ago, it's the fact you have to solder a chip to the mobo that's the difference maker. The guys making the chinese Everdrives probably aren't as adept at that sort of thing.

A $20 used game shark works on the systems that PSIO would work on, but it works better. It just requires burnt media.

I didn't know about this method. Had to get a cheap swap disc since I use a PSOne. I'm pretty sure they're still under $10.

Unfortunately an emulator or an arduino running the psnee modchip software is the best you can do right now. No one has made a proper optical drive emulator.

I'm starting to wonder why. I've got a digital scope, ive got a mind to try making one myself. Who would I talk to to learn what opcodes the ps1 sends to the drive and what responses it expects?

Well do some research and find out. Learn why everything you said following this is just retarded.

>> No.4206786

>>4206292
I did. I haven't found almost anything about people trying to get an ode working. Granted the last time I searched was when assembler was still down.

I meant actual technical research. Not googeling to see if someone was selling them on ebay. kek.

>> No.4206992

I gave up on that because it's really expensive for what it does.

Instead I rely on discs. It sucks but it's the best compatible way. Also I use a PSTwo so I have to deal with disc swapping, but eh. Good enough. It's a shame that whole POPStarter thing is so terrible.

I think the dingus who says he's going to make a PS ODE but doesn't have the slightest clue how the drive works is the one who's shitposting sport.

I have a v2.1 gameshark. I had to burn an ISO of the xflash/unirom disc...It was really really simple and I am glad someone else did the work. I had to disc swap this one in....

It flashed my gameshark with UniRom. It allows me to treat my backups like regular media. Hit r2 at the on screen, and game boots no problem.

I have issues however with Panzer Dragoon not running at all (message warning me about modded hardware) and Chrono Cross will not load past the start screen.

Other than that, it is the cats meow.

v 0.6 of unirom is the newest, and is hard to find. I have used a few versions, and none made any difference to me. I just wanted to play backups.

Can I use an Action Replay meant for PAL-systems on a Japanese NTSC system, or are they region locked in some way?

I don't know, but I highly doubt it. I think if you can find info from the site about which models work....I think most will.

I just looked at the download from it, and for shits and giggles extracted it and ran it in the PC. I did not go so far as to search for an emulated game shark. I should have tested it before I installed it lol.....

I think you are good. If you install, do let us know how it turned out.

One time I was swapping versions around and for whatever reason the rom write failed, and the gameshark was bricked. All I lost was the ability to launch 3rd party cds. I disc swapped the rom flash back in and was good to go again.

I don't know shit about my gameshark either. v2.1. It has a port on the back, and a switch on the side. I don't have a clue or care what they do either.

Jap Final Fantasy Tactics works.

The sounds suck...almost like the shitty emulator sounds that made me come back to the real hardware. Could the source .ecm file be to blame?

Other than that it works fine.

there's modchips even for the latest PSOnes to not require a swap disc, breh.
