Why not? You can look at how many decent to good games there are, look at the hardware in a technical relative way. Look at how big the library is. And give a verdict.

Make no mistake, the whole "SMS was most popular in Brazil" is a little bit misleading.
What happened there is that TecToy kept manufacturing the Master System legally well into the 2000s, but that doesn't mean that back in the day, SMS was more popular than Famiclones.
Famiclones were always more popular in Brazil, you just couldn't keep up with sales data because, well, they're bootlegs.
Only places the SMS was somewhat popular back in the day was UK and Australia.
