Why this series is dead?

IIRC it was broken as shit while VF is an infinitely balanced, deep nuanced fighting game series.I had literally forgotten Zero Divide and never had any idea there was a Zero Divide 2

>> No.4152315

Does anyone have a video of this running in high-res mode? I believe the first Zero Divide has a cheat where you can run the game in high resolution mode at the cost of turning all textures off.

Also Zero Divide 1 has that really awesome short version of the Tiny Phalanx shooter on it.

As for why it failed? You will probably hate this, but Toshinden 1 and 2 looked so much better and were much flashier with their weeb anime characters. These robots were boring.

Most fighting games die quite quickly but almost none have a shitty soundtrack

It's like Rise of the Robots in 3D. Abysmal game from my memory. Only rented it a few times though.

>>4152273
Budokan is largely forgotten since it predates fighters really becoming their own genre and has a very different approach. It's far from perfect, but very interesting to play and winning means both learning all the weapons well and strategizing when to use which, where.

Oh, I didn't realize Zero Divide was practically a launch title. That is very impressive.

I loved Budokan. I guess it was one of the last games I bought on Cassette for my C64 before finally getting a floppy drive.

Elfmania
Really late game for the Amiga (made by Housemarque, now Housemarque). And it even came out for the older models... but didn't looked like this at all.

Awesome graphics for a A500 game, highly optimized loading times, adaptive AI (so you couldn't do the same moves over and over).
Too bad it's controls were a bit clunky and the few characters had so few moves. And I was shit at playing this game and never got far.

When having to choice between a shorter video (and maybe cutting off the action) and compression artifact I choose the first. The webm I did first was longer (max. length at /vg/ seems 2 min) but looked like shit. And I can't do anything about the much too narrow limits of posting webm's at 4chan. 3 MB and 2 min at /vg/? Come on. This wouldn't be as problematic if you finally could use VP9 and Opus instead of VP8 and Vorbis for webm's.

Oh and btw. despite me being not very good at it, this game IMO is one of the (graphically) best fighting games on the amiga (not counting ports like Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat II). Beside the controls and the limited movesets another point I didn't like was that they opted for this kinda "family-friendly" clean graphic style instead of the at this time more popular violent and/or gritty style.
