Alright guys, I want to play some Quake and the expansion packs. My "gaming" PC i'm using is shit so it can't run Quake 2 on OpenGL so i have to use some old d3d sourceport of Quake. I wanted to play with the soundtracks so i found a disc you can burn and put in the cd drive and you can hear the music. I also found one of these for Dissolution of Eternity. Is there any way to add WADs together, like, so instead of starting Doom 1, TNT, Plutonia, or 2, I could just compress them all into one ultrawad campaign? Is there some kinda file system limitation that caps at 32ish, or.... What?

And other authors might not like their work being packaged with others, but a lot of stuff lends itself to others, like AV1/2 Scythe1/2 and others... Anyway, just curious. Look, I see these threads all the time, and have tried to lurk. But I just can't tell exactly what the answer to my question is, so I apologize for asking something that I know has to have been answered many times over.

With that said.

What is the best way to play final doom, ultimate doom, doom hell on earth, and master levels for doom 2? When I say best way, I mean I want pure vanilla shit, but running on windows 7. I got them all on steam, and all I get is a tiny tiny window. I've read multiple ways to make the window bigger, but none work for me. I don't updated resolution, better graphics, controls that didn't originally exist, I just want to play some doom.

Once again, sorry that I can't figure this out for my own. I do NOT care if it's full screen or not, as long as it's not stretched.

The Master Levels was a CD released for hardcore Doomers who wanted even more after Plutonia and TNT

Some of their maps are good, some others are literally "Fuck you, here, fight 10 revenants with a pistol"

In that case, you'll need two WADs, you can get them here:

the first one is the core package, it contains all of the assets and shit like that. the second one has all of the rest of the code, and the maps.

The thing to remember is that all of the official maps don't use the typical DOOM 2 terminology, they're named according to their gamemode, so the first Combat Frenzy map is CF01. You'll have to make your own map rotation to get it to work.

The maps are CF01 - CF05, SD01 and SD02, and SF01 - SF05.

A little(lot) late here but that's using straferunning, (strafing diagonally in doom makes you go faster than just moving forward) specifically he's constantly using SR-50 which is where you strafe using a strafe key and the strafe-hold key at the same time making you go even faster. It's possible but incredibly annoying and hard to do this by hand, so he's using a tool that automates the process.

Been practicing my Cyberrunner jumps, and I noticed that there's yet another walljump move where you double-tap any direction while against a wall, and you thrust quickly in the tapped direction.

So there's the vertical push you do when you hit space while facing a wall (?). That has one use per jump.

Then there's the walljump, done by pressing space against a wall more at an angle (?). It's more horizontal than the push but less vertical as well. More importantly it gives you back your push.

Finally there's this new walljump, double tap a direction and you rocket in that direction, with no vertical but tons of horizontal. Don't yet know how it figures into everything.
Is there anything I've missed? Any other moves I don't know about, or more techniques or rules to the use of the other abilities?

I'm working on a tutorial map that should explain everything, but when it comes to walljumps there's three things:

1: Wallkick/Wallpush, which you push into the wall and jump upwards. This gives you your mid-air jump back, but cannot be done twice in a row. People who want lots of vertical air will jump, mid-air jump, wallkick/wallpush, mid-air jump again, and then follow up with whatever.

2: Walljump. Like you said, at the wall at an angle, push another direction and jump. If you're facing the wall head-on, you can also do this by pushing backwards and jumping. Gives you wallpush/wallkick back, also refreshes your mid-air jumps. Can be done multiple times in a row.

3: Walldodge. Much like dodging on the ground, double-tap a direction, except when you're pushing against the ground. Refreshes mid-air jumps and wallkicks/wallpushes.

Vertical push isn't the same as a second jump, the two are separate. And yeah, your vertical push is the 1, and the jump+direction is 2.

Any stock Doom monster is easy to deal with if you supply adequate space for strafing to dodge projectiles, so that's really not a problem specific to the Mastermind. At least in BD, when it hits, it hits hard enough to be highly threatening.

So I'm working on a WAD. I edit SNDINFO so there's an additional sound (let's call it "DSPLPAI2") that plays when the player is hurt at 25 health or less, instead of the regular pain sound.

Now I'm trying to add a few multiplayer skins, each with their own sounds. Every sound works fine when using one of these skins, except the 25HP-or-less-pain sound. It doesn't play the proper 25HP-or-less sound ("DSLUPAI2"), or even the base skin's 25HP-or-less sound ("DSPLPAI2"). It just plays the custom skin's regular pain sound ("DSLUPAIN"). How can I make this thing work?

Alright, I think I've got an idea.

Try taking the grass sectors bordering the snow and splitting them up into a way that you can apply the snow texture so that it doesn't look like it's a straight line. Then, for the newly created sectors, use plane_copy (http://zdoom.org/wiki/Plane_Copy) to maintain the slopes as they were before. If all goes as I think, you should be able to keep the terrain sloped the exact same way, while still giving a somewhat randomized snow cutoff.

I actually played Doom when it was new, however, I never played it networked before it was pretty safely considered "Retro", so I have no fucking idea how any of that worked.

I do remember trying to set up DWANGO and having it not work at all and then a huge internet bill (huge at the time was like $40 for me), so I never fucked with it again.

Playstation one had some minor issues I think, nothing too noticeable. I already made a similar post in a different thread but I'll say this:

Game is very atmospheric because they did change up the engine slightly. The music and sounds are really what separate it from the other versions though. (doom 64 took the sounds and music from it)

It really just felt gritty / darker than the pc version. Not saying it's better but it's worth a playthrough in my opinion.

I believe there might have been a total conversion for pc but I'm guessing it just added the sounds and music, I could be wrong.

Oh woops, I meant it felt darker because it was in fact darker. They changed up the lighting a bit and believe me it has a different feel.
