Mystery Quest and Jungle Strike were $5 each at Budd Street Video in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Nice store, nice staff, and a nice cat that loves ear scritchins.

The Phantom arrived via eBay a few minutes ago. I don't even have any MVS games to test it with. Or any AES games to compare it to.

Do they actually charge half the average cost for stuff, or are they like Bookmans and charge what they want, and if it's a scalper tier price, then so be it?

Picked up a copy of Blood Omen today for $10. Has the original case and manual too.

>> No.413838

>>413804
Most things are half of original cover price , or abouts.
But harder to find stuff they raise price accordingly. I go there a lot for comics and they finally caught on to the whole "variant cover" thing so I can't get variants for cheap anymore. It's a bummer.

>> No.413858

not very successful.
i got a spare snes ac adapter for $2 at goodwill.

later tonight i'm going to pick up...
a top-loading nes
mm2
metroid
2 controllers
mario/duckhunt
and a light gun

for $85.

i know it's not a particularly great deal, but it's significantly below online prices, and it's a friend of mine who i don't want to rip off.

>> No.413894

>>413858
I think that's a fair price.
You'd be paying that much for the console alone online.

>> No.413912

This didn't happen today last summer actually. Went to a local flea market looking around. See a woman with a bunch of atari games and I'm like how much are the games, she says $20 for all of them and $40 for everything she has in her car too. So I take a look in her car 2 more boxes filled with atari games a few doubles but whatever, a broken snes, a nes, 3 atari systems, and a ps2.

literally the best $40 i've ever spent

>> No.413925

>>413894
agreed.
it's just the nature of this hobby is finding gold for dirt cheap, so paying even significantly below average prices is a slight concession as far as i'm concerned.
anyway, i know the top-loader is where most of the price is coming from, and those are hard to come by these days.

Stuff like that makes me hate the fact that Gamestop's driven all the used game stores out of town, and of the few stores carrying used games in nearby towns, all charge ridiculous scalpers fees except one. That one is probably the best game store I've ever seen, and they charge equal to or below lower end Amazon prices typically, even on things with the cover art and manual that would normally run you a good deal more for being complete. I've seen them carry stuff like Eternal Darkness there for $20, while the other used stores tend to charge at least $40. They usually have a decent selection as well, and being near a college means they have a tendency to get hard to find or obscure games other places normally wouldn't get in.

Emailed a guy from Craigslist who has a bunch of arcade parts. Maybe get some marquees and side art for my MAME cabinet. I have it configured so it always automatically boots into the last game loaded unless you can get to the keyboard so I can leave whatever game going that I have the marquee displayed for. When I pick through his stuff I'll probably get a control panel with the jamma+ harness still attached to turn into a supergun and maybe if he's agreeable about the price maybe some pcbs too. Definitely any Vs ones, possibly some Capcom ones and maybe even some plain Jammas. Maybe I'll even get lucky and find an mvs in there.

Just picked up a copy of FF Anthology, Chronicles, and Origins for a combined total of $50. Not a bad deal, from what I can gather. I also had the opportunity to pick up MM3 but it was outrageous and I don't like MM enough to pay that kind of price. Now the only game missing from my PSX FF collection is FFT (though I'd like to replace my Greatest Hits version of FF9 with a proper black label copy soon, too).

I also plan on buying back my childhood N64 from my cousin (sold it to him when I was a teenager for drugs; dumb, I know). If all goes well, that should be quite the pickup.

Today I went back to where I picked up the sticks, and they had another Capcom Power Arcade Stick out for $7.50, so I grabbed that and found Secret of Evermore (a tiny bit of damage to the label on the edge between face and top) for $9.
