That said, all they need to do to make it a worthy purchase is release all their major first party games, and manage to snag the N64 Rareware games. That's all they have to do.

If Microsoft's not full of shit about the "it's nintendo's decision to re-release those games" claim then it doesn't seem like it's hard to do.

A big problem would be how multiplayer dependent a lot of the games are. Can they make a box with 4 controllers profitable? If not, does anyone care enough or have IRL friends that would justify the purchase of separate controllers?

Only feasible Rare games are the DK ones since Nintendo still owns them. Goldneye is a 007 game and EA has those rights nowadays. Meanwhile all the original Rare IP belong to Microsoft.

Does /vr/ shit on the n64 because it's a 90's nostalgia symbol to hipsters? The ps1 blows it out of the water in terms of games but what it does have is pretty good. Games like banjo kazooie, mischeif makers, sin and punishment, and others are great games. I get saying it has an inferior library to some of the then competing consoles but younguys make it sound like the game gear with literally no games.

Well that's true, but it's still dry as fuck, and the lack of arcade games doesn't help, there's no hidden gems, it's just the top shit and that's it. there's nothing fun about collecting/playig N64 because the sort of experience of finding interesting hidden gems isn't there, Famicom, PS1, Most sega consoles, and even SNES have a good number of stuff you gotta go out of your way for, it's thrilling in a stupid autistic kind of way . at least that's why I dislike the N64 lineup.

That's 15. I could easily come up with another 5 (or 15) scanning my shelf. And that doesn't even begin to scratch all the garbage on the wii that becomes fun when you play with your casual normie friends with a few beers.

None of those games is really an all time classic or anything, but they're all very playable. It's not the nes/snes/genesis/dreamcast, but the wii is seriously underrated. Now the wii u on the other hand is a fucking dust collector.

The Wii sucks because of three reasons.

It's hard enough as it is trying to play a Gamecube game while also using a Wii-mote to start up a Gamecube game with. The Wii is trash to me. PS Move did motion gaming better, with no frustration behind it. I enjoy playing House Of The Dead more on my PS3 than I ever did on the Wii.

About ten years ago Nintendo and Microsoft both attempted a remake/rerelease of Goldeneye but failed due to legal issues.

It's no SNES or Mega Drive, but N64 is up there in the top 10 or so of best consoles of all time.
You'd have to be a huge contrarian poser to prefer something like, say, Jaguar or CD-i over the N64.
Even if for some reason you want to avoid some great games on like Wave Race 64 or F-Zero X because "muh anti-nintendo hateboner" there's still other games worth playing that are 3rd party, even more if you count import titles.

Snowboarding fad has kind of died, compared to the 90s, but the game is still amazing (I think made by the same dev team from Wave Race and F-Zero X), and it has one of the best electronic soundtracks from that era.
