I haven't used PJ64 in forever but make sure that "60 fps" like with most emulators does not just indicate 100% speed but actually 60 fps internally.

>>4119001
No problem. I would've checked if you hadn't anyway. I have to wonder if that list has other fuck ups though. I'm seriously suspicious of the N64 list, I know it's badly incomplete. For example, Dr. Mario 64, which he doesn't have. Where does he get his sources anyhow? His signature also has a lot of Nintendo bashing, which puts his objectivity in question.

This list is wrong. There are many games on this list that merely have a 60 FPS framecap as opposed to running at 60 FPS most of the time on the actual hardware.

Saturn version of VF2 does it as well.
hell, a bunch of 3D fighters do, like Tekken and Street Fighter EX

one that comes to mind that doesn't is Soul Edge, which ran at 30

>>4118983
>Paper Mario is way more 3d than them.
You what?
Paper Mario puts a hell of a lot less geometry on screen than either.

It totally should be on the list, but it's an incomplete list made by some random dudes on a fucking forum, I wouldn't expect it to have every damn game.

>>4119196
man, Layer Section II shouldn't have been mentioned, it barely keeps 30 sometimes

>> No.4119427

Most fighting games from that generation probably run at 60fps. I remember one specific game being Toshinden 3, which ran at 30fps normally, but had an option to run at 60fps. In this mode, the game removed almost all textures from characters and stages.
Others I remember are:
- Tekken 3
- Dead or Alive
- Street Fighter EX plus alpha

Fighting games are easier to get 60fps on because (usually) there are no screen transitions and not that many effects at once. Also only 2 characters onscreen, maybe 4.

The way Saturn works is one of its two GPUs cna run at a different resolution to the other. So when people say that VF2 ran at 704x480 that was only the 2D GPU, not the 3D one,

I always thought GT1 felt much better than GT2. Is this the reason? Does GT2 run at 30FPS?

>> No.4119953

GT1 only runs in 60fps in the "hi-fi" mode. It's limited to the Route 5 tracks and no CPU cars appear.

>> No.4120046

It has better graphics than 2 because 2 tries to put glitter on the windows and makes the whole car glitter horribly.

Also, some car models are obviously in beta and alpha stage because the game was rushed

>> No.4120091

>>4119924
>So when people say that VF2 ran at 704x480 that was only the 2D GPU, not the 3D one,

VF2 ran in hi-res for both.

Dead or Alive ran in hi-res 3d but low-res backgrounds.

Toshinden URA ran in hi-res 2d and medium res 3d.

Fighting Vipers, Megamix, and D-Xhird ran in hi-res 2d but low-res 3d (they used low-res 3d because the Saturn can only do shading in that mode; the games had dynamic coloured lightning).

>> No.4120332

Even so, they do this by actually removing the buildings on the track. Ridge Racer Turbo also does similar by limiting the races to be a two car race - you vs a CPU car.

Some european models have this problem, I can't quite remember which of them but it was clear they needed a few more details on them, also the drag models (just talking about the cars, not the events that were supposed to be in the game)

I can't quite explain it why but 1 is prettier than 2

Speaking of 3D-Games:
1998: Shin Nihon Pro-Wrestling: Toukon Retsuden 3
Had an optional 60 FPS mode. But with that the game was limited to two characters only. So the referee was gone.

Toukon Retsuden 2 (one year earlier) had it too, but it was a hidden cheat via a button combination back than.
